War of Return

More than any other decade, the sixties capture our collective cultural imagination. And while many Americans can immediately imagine the sound of Martin Luther King Jr. declaring "I have a dream!" or envision hippies placing flowers in gun barrels, the revolutionary sixties resonates around the world: China's communist government inaugurated a new cultural era, African nations won independence from colonial rule, and students across Europe took to the streets, calling for an end to capitalism, imperialism, and the Vietnam War.

Summer 1945. While the victorious nations celebrate a return to peace, an iron curtain comes down to divide those who were formerly allies. For fifty years, the Communist Eastern bloc will confront the West, led by the Americans. This is the Cold War, the War of Worlds. In Indochina, Korea and Vietnam, the big nations wage war on each other through other peoples. And the emergence of nuclear weapons leaves mankind under perpetual threat of a new Apocalypse.

Retelling the story of 'The War of the Worlds', this concept album follows on from Jeff Wayne's 1978 classic. Recreating the score for the next generation, the album features the vocals of Liam Neeson, Gary Barlow, Maverick Sabre and Joss Stone.
