Florida-born Sean Chambers began his career in the Blues back in 1998 when he toured with the legendary Hubert Sumlin as his guitarist and band leader until 2003. During Sean's tenure with Mr. Sumlin, Britain's own Guitarist magazine named Chambers as One of the Top 50 blues guitarists of the last century. Trouble & Whiskey marks the 6th release by Sean Chambers. The album is guitar driven and features 10 tracks, which include 7 new original Sean Chambers compositions, and 3 well chosen covers, including Bullfrog Blues by Rory Gallagher, Cut Off My Right Arm by Johnny Copeland and Be Careful With A Fool by Riley B. King/Joe Bihari. The album debuts on Billboard Blues Charts at #11.
New Blues Underground are retaining the essence of blues. While they add their personal style, as did all the great blues-men, they are true to the core of what made "blues" the root of so many contemporary musical styles. Play all their songs and see what I mean. Well done lads!
The Spin Doctors have always been bluesy, which isn't the same thing as being a blues band. From the outset, they were a bar band that happily dabbled in blues-rock, hippie pop, elastic funk, and classic rock, anything that would satisfy a crowd, and that eagerness to please came through on their breakthrough 1991 debut, Pocket Full of Kryptonite. When the Spin Doctors were touring the 20th anniversary deluxe edition of the album, they discovered their fans wanted to hear the obscure, bluesier tunes in their repertoire, so they decided to do the only natural thing – to record their first all-blues album.
The set Roots N' Blues features many hours worth of early blues, folk/country and gospel recordings from a variety of American artists.
Whiskey is a 1977 LP re-issue of the 1974 album Way Down Yonder. Presumably, the album was re-named and marketed in 1977 to capitalize on the popularity of the country rock and outlaw country genres. Whiskey, however, quickly disappeared into obscurity only to re-surface as a long overdue CD reissue on the outstanding Wounded Bird Records in 2008. Because of these circumstances and its long absence from print, Whiskey is somewhat of a "lost" Charle Daniels Band album.
