From Detroit, Michigan, Discipline return for their fifth studio album, Captives of the Wine Dark Sea, released on their new label Laser’s Edge. The album is held to seven tracks which add up to a perfectly paced forty-five minutes, veteran producer Terry Brown (Rush, Fate’s Warning) providing a mix which keeps the instruments clear and identifiable with a good balance, accompanied by top quality performances from the entire band. Captives Of The Wine Dark Sea is a thoughtfully created piece of work, a fine example of modern progressive music and another excellent addition to Discipline’s canon of work.

"This new 3-CD Deluxe Edition of their hit-strewn 1983 album, Labour of Love features a second and third disc of B-sides, singles and BBC Radio 1 session tracks and a BBC Radio 1 concert which was recorded in 1984. The album comes complete with new liner notes by respected reggae writer, David Katz. Originally released in 1983, Labour of Love was the band’s fourth LP release and is made up entirely of UB40’s cover versions of songs by some of their favourite musical idols. It includes the hits, Red, Red Wine (UK #1); Cherry, Oh Baby (UK #12), Many Rivers To Cross (UK #16) and Please Don’t Make Me Cry (UK #10). The album reached number 1 in the UK and number 8 in the U.S. and, in 1989, Rolling Stone magazine ranked it at number 98 in their list of The 100 Greatest Albums of the ‘80s."

Fresh Cream represents so many different firsts, it's difficult to keep count. Cream, of course, was the first supergroup, but their first album not only gave birth to the power trio, it also was instrumental in the birth of heavy metal and the birth of jam rock. That's a lot of weight for one record and, like a lot of pioneering records, Fresh Cream doesn't seem quite as mighty as what would come later, both from the group and its acolytes. In retrospect, the moments on the LP that are a bit unformed - in particular, the halting waltz of "Dreaming" never achieves the sweet ethereal atmosphere it aspires to - stand out more than the innovations, which have been so thoroughly assimilated into the vocabulary of rock & roll, but Fresh Cream was a remarkable shift forward in rock upon its 1966 release and it remains quite potent. Certainly at this early stage the trio was still grounded heavily in blues, only fitting given guitarist Eric Clapton's stint in John Mayall's Bluesbreakers…

Formed in Los Angeles in 1981, the seminal indie rock band The Dream Syndicate was founded by current members Steve Wynn and Dennis Duck. With its widely celebrated 1982 debut "The Days of Wine and Roses", the band soon emerged at the forefront of the 1980s college-rock scene. "How Did I Find Myself Here?" is the band's fifth studio album, their first since 1988. This reunion album comes across like vintage Dream Syndicate, but with a 100% 2017 sound. A sonic upgrade which will enrapture early fans and allow new ones an easy taste of this uncompromising and venomous rock'n'roll.

On his prior 1967 LP, "For Emily, Whenever I May Find Her", Yarbrough had tried to move into contemporary folk-rockish covers, with negligible sales and not much greater artistic success. With "Honey & Wine" there also seemed to be inclinations to update his sound, but great uncertainty as to which way his music should pull. There was just a bit of a nod to pop/rock on the album, primarily in the title cut, a cover of a relatively little-known Gerry Goffin/Carole King composition.
