Holding on to Yesterday is the debut album by the Aaron Matson Nonet, a nine-piece jazz band that originated in North Carolina under the direction of guitarist Aaron Matson. The album features new arrangements of jazz standards and original compositions.

This is a heartfelt collection of original songs in several different soulful genres. This album is personal, political and poetic. The styles range from psychedelic soul ballads to bluesy rocking dub. Themes of survival, love and self empowerment imbue this album with a cutting edge vibe and a spiritual and lyrical intensity.
