As the voltage begins to spike, current flows like a high tide flooding through the transformers and wires that stack well into the thousands at TBSD’s musical headquarters, “The Lily Pad” in Nashville, Tennessee. Cage et Dowland: les deux John, à quatre cents ans de distance, se répondent par un goût commun pour une expression sobre, des formes concises, une réalisation intime - pour le plaisir aussi que procurent les mots en tant que tels. Enfin, Sting, artiste à la renommée internationale, offre une réécriture de son tube ‘Shape of my Heart’, qui devient ici une sorte de ‘lute song’ du XXIe siècle, bouclant ainsi la boucle dans un album où Renaissance et présent se croisent, entrent en dialogue, se mêlent et se confondent pour transcender les frontières des esthétiques et des genres.

The Whispers have long been associated with fine 70's and 80's soul music, and were a group that wasn't swayed by the electro sounds of the eighties. Therefore producing quality timeless records which sound good today. This compilation is particularly good as it stretches across the whole of the whispers career, and not just the more well known songs like and the beats goes on. Stretched over 3 cds, the first being their early stuff it has a more traditional soul feel of the late 60's, and early 70's. The 2nd cd is their hit period including its a love thing, and many well known classics. The final cd is the period from the mid 80's to the early 90's, and some soul fans may need to listen to some of the tracks on you tube prior to purchase. All in all this cd is fantastic, and a true reflection of this wonderful groups career.
