Philosophy of Beyond, the second volume in the Anthology Resource series, continues Dean Hurley’s experimental soundscape work into more ethereal and celestial territory. 12 tracks weave together a rich sonic tapestry built in part from comb-filtering experiments, tape loops, and sampled field excursions into unique acoustical environments. A bulk of the LP is assembled from Hurley’s sonic contributions to the recent feature film Perfect (2018, dir. Eddie Alcazar) as well as material made in residency for Art Gallery of New South Wales’ event Masters of Modern Sound…all of which are threaded together into a singular, cohesive dissertation on the afterlife. Outlining a landscape beyond physical reality, the record serves as a soundtrack to the mysterious and immortal voyage of the soul into depths beyond the known and back again. What lies beyond physical reality? Beyond intellect and the system of the five senses? What do accounts of near death experiences, alien encounters, psychedelic drugs, astral projection, even strokes all have to do with this and why do each seem to share a core architecture of description?

The subtitle says it all. Beyond the Sunset gathers up a dozen of the loveliest love songs from the first four Blackmore's Night albums, plus two previously unreleased cuts, "Once in a Million Years" and an alternate version of the favorite "Ghost of a Rose." That means there's no room for some of the rockier or more rambunctious songs in the band's catalog – they, no doubt, must wait for The Party Album…

Generally speaking, the live album occupies one of two roles in an artist’s larger body of work: it either documents an artist at the very top of their game, or it shamelessly fleeces fans with repackaged hits when the well of new ideas has run dry. Leftoverture Live & Beyond clearly plays the former role, and stands as Kansas’ best live album since Two for the Show. Like that classic album, Leftoverture Live & Beyond focuses on the band’s two most popular studio albums, Point of Know Return and Leftoverture, with a nice selection of other fan favorites and deep cuts to round out the setlist. This is 19 tracks and nearly 2 hours of a band in their prime, playing scorching takes of complex rock music with a seemingly tireless energy.

Right on time for their show at 2024's edition of Wacken Open Air, Blind Guardian proudly present "Somewhere Far Beyond Revisited" which includes a complete re-recording of this classic of 1992's "Somewhere Far Beyond", a landmark record for Germany's heavy metal titans.
After three albums on No Remorse Records, it was the band's major label debut coming out via Virgin Records and opened doors to the Japanese market resulting in a wider availability and presence on the global metal scene. After finding the right balance of speed, heaviness, melodies, drama and irresistible choruses on 1990's "Tales From The Twilight World", "Somewhere Far Beyond" honed this approach to perfection, evolving further on a conceptual level and increasingly daring take on Blind Guardian's sonic range…

Far Beyond Driven may have been Pantera's fastest selling album upon release, but it's hardly their best. In fact, although it shot straight to the number one spot on the Billboard sales chart in its first week (arguably the most extreme album ever to do so), this incredible feat doesn't so much reflect its own qualities as those of its predecessor, 1992's Vulgar Display of Power…

For Delta Nove, the past decade has been both transformational and tragic. Following their last record, Imaginary Conversations, the former Jambase “Road Warriors of the Year” chose to slow down their once-relentless touring schedule to stay closer to home, focusing on their families and their individual careers while continuing to collaborate as Delta Nove. With a recording studio in Long Beach, California to call home and a core of seven musicians that had evolved into the band’s most cohesive unit, Delta Nove was poised to record and tour in support of a much-anticipated new album in 2018. Sadly, this plan came crashing down shortly after basic tracking on the album was completed when drummer, co-vocalist, and major contributing songwriter Dominic Feedam was diagnosed with cancer. After a hard-fought battle with the disease, Dominic lost his life in 2019.

The Bomboras have announced that they will return with their first album in 25 years - "Songs From Beyond!" - out May 5th on MuSick Recordings. Glamorous go go girls, looming tiki heads, and Farfisa organs (literally) ablaze are just some of the lasting impressions left by cult '90s L.A. neo-surf band The Bomboras. Now this famously incendiary act is not only picking up where it left off a quarter-century ago, but has returned more inspired and accomplished than ever on long-awaited comeback album Songs From Beyond!, coming from MuSick Recordings on May 5.

Beyond Grand Canyon is of a piece with all the albums he's released over the last decade or so, many of which have "Grand Canyon" somewhere in their titles. Favoring romantic harmonies and arrangements that border on Yanni 's terrain, Beyond Grand Canyon is on the lighter side of Gunn's oeuvre: often tending toward the sentimental, when a darker, more evocative touch might serve him better. Gunn plays flutes, stacks his voice in earthy, vaguely Native American-meets-Gothic choirs, and plays keyboards and percussion throughout the disc, accompanied sparingly by violinists (including Karen Briggs) and guitarists (including Johannes Linstead). Despite the Southwestern scenario, there's a surprising Celtic flavor to many of these tracks, including the title piece and "The Boneyard." And when it's not Celtic, Gunn brings a Latin and flamenco feel. On the companion DVD, the album tracks accompany a slickly produced slide show of Michael Fatali's color-saturated, painterly photographs, a vibrant, hyper-real Yang to Ansel Adams's stark and austere Yin…
