Those of you that have followed the Mule's history know that our connection with the state of Georgia is a deep one. Our first rehearsals were at the one-time living quarters of the Allman Brothers Band known as The Big House (now the ABB museum) in Macon, GA. Some later rehearsals took place at what used to be the legendary Capricorn Recording Studio in Macon while recording the song GONNA SEND YOU BACK TO GEORGIA for the HOUND DOG TAYLOR Tribute CD. A lot of our earliest shows were in Georgia as well so a lot of our growth as a band took place in front of Georgia audiences.

Welcome to Funplex, the first record of the 21st century from the B-52s. "It’s loud, sexy rock and roll, with the beat pumped up to hot pink," says guitarist Keith Strickland. Eleven fresh new songs, crafted by the groundbreaking band that put Athens, GA on the musical map in the late ’70s, and conquered the world with its savvy hooks, unconventional approach to music-making and original style. “Funplex sounds like us, updated," adds Fred Schneider. "It’s the B-52s now – or fifteen years from now."

Moda Black’s Little Black Book series was inspired by the desire for a new, more diverse, more personal platform for artists to express themselves. An album, remix album, compilation, mix series, autobiography and photo-book all rolled into one - a chance for artists to reveal a wealth of new material, whilst also dipping into their back catalogue and allowing it to be re-imagined by new artists. The Little Black Book gets inside the artists’ minds and looks to the future and what’s to come.

Following the disappointing commercial performance of the dance-oriented Hot Space in 1982, Queen took 1983 off to get refocused and work on a follow-up that would put the band back on track. While the songwriting had definitely improved on the resulting The Works in 1984, the album sonically lacked the punch of such earlier releases as News of the World and The Game (strangely, Hot Space even had a better overall sound)…

Jewels has some great material on it. Not all Queen collections include tracks from Innuendo and Made in Heaven, as well as Night at the Opera. It's also nice to see Radio Ga Ga on the roster, a song that despite its wince-inducing title is actually one of the most beautiful odes to the medium ever written. This EMI-licensed Japanese import does a decent job at trying to reign in the many phases of Queen, but the sheer volume of anthologies, compilations, and greatest-hits packages that already dominate the Q section render it as nothing more than another coin in a very crowded pool.

A couple of years after the release of Queen's mammoth 3-video bio The Magic Years, a compilation of live material was issued, titled Rare Live: A Concert Through Time and Space. Released in most countries (except the U.S.), the video was directed by the same duo responsible for The Magic Years - Rudi Dolezal and Hannes Rossacher…
