Dans ce huitième album d’une série de onze, Lynda Lemay-la-redoutable déconcerte à nouveau. Ses récits d’amour transpirent tantôt l’espoir, puent tantôt la rancune. « J’t’ai rien promis » est une claque en plein cœur, déballant des vérités crues qui en cachent d’autres plus subtiles: La protagoniste croit faire la leçon à son ex-amoureux en lui reprochant vertement son impassibilité alors que c’est elle qui a tout à apprendre de sa propre colère. « Quarante » nous rappelle que la vie peut basculer à tout moment. L’hilarante « L’idée de boire du rosé » est brillante d’une douce insolence. L’humour de Lynda n’a pas fini de surprendre et de faire du bien. Il suffit qu’elle lance « Des bordées de mots » pour que plein de nouveaux silences crèvent et que des vérités se lèvent. « Je trouve du bruit dans du silence, des symphonies dans des absences » dit-elle. « Une artiste…»

This album presents the songs from The Threepenny Opera in a new French translation by Alexandre Pateau. The recording was made at the 2023 Festival d'Aix-en-Provence during the run of the new production of the legendary work by Bertolt Brecht and Kurt Weill in collaboration with Elisabeth Hauptmann, which features the troupe of the Comedie-Francaise and the musicians of Le Balcon, conducted by Maxime Pascal with Thomas Ostermeier as stage director. In this parody of an opera, the songs are the driving force behind the action and the characters ape the bourgeois lifestyle of the audience, the better to denounce the period of moral confusion they are going through. With Maxime Pascal at the helm of a dozen multi-instrumentalists from Le Balcon, we hear a version based on that of the first performance - hard-hitting and as close as possible to the tremendous creative energy deployed by the two creators of the work in the summer of 1928 - acted and sung by the troupe of the Comedie-Francaise, who rise to all its challenges with brio. Other special features of this album are a previously unrecorded song on a text by Yvette Guilbert and the linking texts between the songs read in French by Ostermeier himself. As Diapason wrote of this production, 'Almost a century after its premiere, The Threepenny Opera has lost none of its subversive power.'

Cédric Tiberghien has long been interested in the principle of Beethovenian variation, as is demonstrated by a recording he made for harmonia mundi twenty years ago. Marin Marais published his last collection in 1725, eight years after the appearance of his Quatrième Livre de Pièces de Viole . He was no longer playing in the Chambre du Roi by that time and had moved to a house in the Faubourg Saint-Marceau where he cultivated plants and flowers in his garden. He continued, however, to give lessons to people who wanted to improve their viol playing. The Cinquième Livre de Pièces de Viole reflects this image of a peaceful life; today we regard it as the final testament of a musician who was looking back upon his past years as their undisputed master — and which he remains today.

Der Traum, aus »Romeo & Julia«, der größten Liebesgeschichte aller Zeiten ein eigenes Musical zu machen, begann bereits vor acht Jahren. Seitdem arbeiten Peter Plate und Ulf Leo Sommer (zurzeit mit »Ku’damm 56« im Theater des Westens und damit mit einem der erfolgreichsten Musicals der letzten Jahre in aller Munde) an diesem Stoff. Au même titre que les Inrockuptibles et le Port-Salut, le groupe irlandais d'indie rock, qui fête cette année ses dix ans d'existence, porte sur lui la marque de ce qu'il est, et désolé de vous gâcher la surprise, mais ce n'est pas l'originalité. Piochant d'influences en influences au gré des productions, les académiques se sont d'abord fait remarquer en rejouant de l'indie rock des années 2000 en 2018, dans un Tales From The Backseat qui sentait bon les Strokes et le rock californien, avec quelques touches de Catfish & The Bottlemen, prédécesseurs gallois de la repompe efficace de la discographie de Weezer et cie.
