100 Sun

Strut presents the 4CD edition of Sun Ra's 'Egypt 1971', documenting Sun Ra's first trip to Egypt with his Arkestra in December 1971.

Reissue on CD from the original master of live album by Danish Progressive hippy outfit similar to Burnin Red Ivanhoe, Rainbow Band and Midnight Sun. Recorded in 1970. Long tracks with extensive solo improvisation interplay between Guitar/Sax/Flute. Blue Sun is one of the most loved and missed bands in Danish Rock history. Their career was extreme short and intense. Blue Sun was at times very closed connected to the hippie-movement, and they marked the opening of the summercamp in Jutland with grace. Sadly this band has done very few recordings.

We could say it's the 2nd album of Blue Sun, but recorded as a back up group to Jytte Pilloni. Good Danish roots psychedelic rock with at times hard guitars and superb female vocals from Jytte. + 1 Bonus track: "Jonnie The Junkie".

Best known for their hit single "Walking on a Dream," Australia's larger-than-life electro-glam-pop duo Empire of the Sun feature the Sleepy Jackson's Luke Steele and Pnau's Nick Littlemore. Steele had previously worked with Pnau on "With You Forever," a track from the band's 2007 self-titled third album, and the pair enjoyed collaborating so much that they started their own project, drawing inspiration from the likes of Phoenix and Daft Punk. In fall 2008, Empire of the Sun released their debut album, Walking on a Dream, which the musicians described as "a spiritual road movie." Featuring songs co-written by Pnau's other half, Peter Mayes, the album went platinum in Australia and the title track became a hit single across the globe…
