This Swedish-made adaptation of Henrik Ibsen's dramatic poem, "Terje Viken" helped its director/star Victor_Seastrom gain attention in the United States. Terje Viken (Seastrom) is a fisherman who lives on an island that is blockaded during a war. He tries to outwit an enemy ship to bring home food and supplies but is captured and thrown in prison. When he gets out five years later, he discovers that his wife (Bergliot Hausberg) and child died of starvation the day he was caught. He becomes a recluse and swears revenge on the man who caused his suffering. But when he gets his opportunity, the sound of a child's voice inspires him to overcome his hatred.

Dr. Holepoke, his wife, and his son are at the horse races when the doctor begins to flirt with another woman. Aladdin and the Wonderful Lamp was another of Fox's lavishly produced "Sunset Kiddies" series, wherein most of the principal roles were enacted by children. In this case, Aladdin is portrayed by juvenile performer Francis Carpenter, while other key roles were filled by such stars-in-the-making as Virginia Lee Corbin, Gertrude Messenger and Buddy Messenger and Lewis Sargent. The film was by no means a parody: the youthful performers played their parts with utmost sincerity, and most effectively. As was traditional in the "Sunset Kiddies" films, a few adult performers were scattered throughout the proceedings, notably Elmo Lincoln, the screen's first Tarzan, who here portrayed the towering Genie of the Lamp. Unfortunately, none of the "Sunset Kiddies" efforts is currently available for reappraisal.

When circus aerialist Polly Fisher is injured, she is taken to the nearby home of minister John Hartley. The two fall in love and marry secretly. But when the news leaks out, the minister loses his pastorate over disdain by the parishioners for Polly's background as a performer.
