1934

The story is the harried attempt of a Sicilian partisan, as part of the risorgimento, to reach Garibaldi's headquarters in Northern Italy, and to petition the revered revolutionary to rescue part of his besieged land. Along the way, the peasant hero encounters many colorful Italians, differing in class and age, and holding political opinions of every type. There is a key train scene, and the film ends on the battlefield, Italian unification a success, despite brutal losses.

In a departure from his usual misanthropic characters, W. C. Fields plays a mild-mannered, small town shopkeeper who is constantly hounded by his family, customers, and assorted strangers in It's a Gift (1934). The result is one of his funniest films and allows him to portray Harold Bissonette as the classic underdog, one whose calm perseverance under duress is finally rewarded at the end: Harold's dream of owning an orange ranch becomes a reality.

While holidaying in Switzerland, Lawrence and his wife Jill are asked by a dying friend, Louis Bernard, to get information hidden in his room to the British Consulate. They get the information, but when they deny having it, their daughter Betty is kidnapped. It turns out that Louis was a Foreign Office spy and the information has to do with the assassination of a foreign dignitary. Having managed to trace his daughter's kidnappers back to London, Lawrence learns that the assassination will take place during a concert at the Albert Hall. It is left to Jill, however, to stop the assassination.

Great relatively forgotten thriller with Fay Wray from the golden years of horror.

Young Princess Sophia of Germany is taken to Russia to marry the half-wit Grand Duke Peter, son of the Empress. The domineering Empress hopes to improve the royal blood line. Sophia doesn't like her husband, but she likes Russia, and is very fond of Russian soldiers. She dutifully produces a son – of questionable fatherhood, but no one seems to mind that. After the old empress dies, Sophia engineers a coup d'etat with the aid of the military, does away with Peter, and becomes Catherine the Great.

This British musical showcase presents a number of cockney variety acts as it tells the story of two ailing and impoverished flower sellers who are helped out by their friends who stage a benefit so the two can go to the seashore for some rest and relaxation.

Ricardo is a brilliant singer struggling for success in Venice. He gets a contract in a recording house and his voice becomes famous, but his short stature makes performances still elusive. When he meets Nina he makes her briefly believe his tall and handsome friend Rico is the singer. English version of the original German release the previous year also played by tenor Joseph Schmidt, one of his few pictures..

A north-country chimney sweep standing for Parliament is opposed by a local bigwig. His campaign is imperiled when his artist son, Tony, falls in love with a girl who has reason to hope that the bigwig will be elected.
