Back Door first came together in 1971 as a trio featuring Colin Hodkinson (bass, guitar, vocals), Ron Aspery (saxes, flute, electric piano) and Tony Hicks (drums) and recorded their first album in 1972. This self-financed and independently released record came to the attention of the London music press and after enthusiastic reviews and a short residency at Ronnie Scott’s club in Soho, the band secured a wider release of their album with Warner Bros. Around this time Back Door also began to record sessions for BBC Radio 1 and had a supporter in legendary DJ John Peel.

Dreaming of You is the fifth and final studio album by American singer Selena. Released posthumously on July 18, 1995, by EMI Latin and EMI Records, it was an immediate commercial and critical success, debuting atop the United States Billboard 200—the first predominately Spanish-language album to do so.

Everlasting was one of Natalie Cole's best '80s albums. The title track was written and produced by the hit production duo of Jerry Knight and Aaron Zigman. Produced by Reginald and Vincent Calloway (Midnight Star), the number two R&B hit "Jump Start" is a slab of slammin' squishy funk, with some parts sounding like "No Parking on the Dance Floor." Burt Bacharach and Carole Bayer Sager contribute the smooth "Split Decision," and the lightly swinging "In My Reality." Cole gives one of her best performances, covering one of her famous father's classics on the Marcus Miller-produced "When I Fall in Love." She also skillfully covers Bruce Springsteen's "Pink Cadillac." Cole co-wrote and co-produced the light, samba-tinged "More Than the Stars," which is in the same vein as "La Costa," from Thankful.

Marianne Faithfull is the debut studio album by English singer Marianne Faithfull. It was released simultaneously with her album Come My Way on 15 April 1965 by Decca Records. The double release was a result of different creative directions. While the record label pressed Faithfull to record a pop album, she wanted to record an album of folk songs. Even after the label suggested an album containing both genres, Faithfull decided to make two separate albums instead; Marianne Faithfull as the pop album and Come My Way as the folk album. In the United States, it was released by London Records with a slightly different track list and inclusion of the song "This Little Bird".

North Country Maid is the third studio album by British singer Marianne Faithfull. It was released only in the United Kingdom. The arrangements were by Jon Mark and Mick Taylor. Gus Dudgeon was the engineer and Gered Mankowitz was the photographer. The guitarists included Jon Mark and Big Jim Sullivan. Half of the songs had been released months earlier in the United States on the album Go Away from My World. Marianne’s second folk album North Country Maid has been remastered from the original tapes by the Grammy nominated Andrew Batt who also provides detailed sleevenotes which Marianne contributed to before her passing in January 2025.

With her signature breathy vocals, romantically nostalgic songs, and melancholy lyrics she often penned herself, Françoise Hardy was a pop music and fashion icon celebrated as a French national treasure. She was one of the earliest and most definitive French participants in the yé-yé movement and her first single, 1962's "Tous Les Garçons et les Filles," sold over two million copies and made her a European star overnight. As the yé-yé sound faded, Hardy shifted to a more introspective, folky, and dramatic sound that helped her move from a pop sensation to an artist.
