There are thousands of songs from the '30s, '40s, and '50s that are considered popular standards and Michael Feinstein has covered a good portion of them throughout his extensive career. On occasion, a more modern composition would slink its way into his repertoire, such as a tune by the prolific songwriter Jimmy Webb, whose numerous hits include "Wichita Lineman" and "MacArthur Park." Eschewing traditional pop standards, Feinstein has collaborated with Webb to record his first full album of modern pop songs, Only One Life: The Songs of Jimmy Webb.

At ten CDs and 200 tracks, this survey of 1970s pop features 20 songs from each year between 1970 and 1979.

Dusty's expertise as an interpretive singer prevented her from being viewed as a cover artist and allowed her the luxury of recording the songs of her favourite American performers and writers. The selection spans Marie Knight's Nothing In The World', a super song Dusty recorded on her first LP, through to K.T. Oslin's 'Where Is A Woman To Go', a highlight of Dusty's swansong album. The Marie Knight track makes its CD debut here, along with 'Love Me By Name' by Lesley Gore, 'Packin' Up' by Margie Hendrix and Carla Thomas' 'Every Ounce Of Strength'.
