Numerical Modeling of Sea Waves

Numerical Modeling of Sea Waves by Dmitry V. Chalikov
English | PDF(True) | 2016 | 340 Pages | ISBN : 3319329146 | 10.2 MB

Presenting a novel approach to wave theory, this book applies mathematical modeling to the investigation of sea waves. It presents problems, solutions and methods, and explores issues such as statistical properties of sea waves, generation of turbulence, Benjamin-Feir instability and the development of wave fields under the action of wind. Special attention is paid to the processes of dynamic wind-wave interaction, the formation of freak waves, as well as the role that sea waves play in the dynamic ocean/atmosphere system.

Extreme Ocean Waves

Extreme Ocean Waves by Efim Pelinovsky
English | PDF(True) | 2016 | 242 Pages | ISBN : 3319215744 | 12.8 MB

This revised and updated second edition details the vast progress that has been achieved in the understanding of the physical mechanisms of rogue wave phenomenon in recent years. The selected articles address such issues as the formation of rogue waves due to modulational instability of nonlinear wave field, physical and statistical properties of extreme ocean wave generation in deep water as well as in shallow water, various models of nonlinear water waves, special analysis of nonlinear resonances between water waves and the relation between in situ observations, experimental data and rogue wave theories.

Efficient Joint Analysis of Surface Waves and Introduction to Vibration Analysis by Giancarlo Dal Moro
English | EPUB | 2020 | 273 Pages | ISBN : 3030463028 | 174.2 MB

This book bridges the gap between theory and practice, showing how a detailed definition of the shear-wave velocity (VS) profile can be efficiently obtained using limited field equipment and following simple acquisition procedures.

Cold Plasma Waves

Cold Plasma Waves by Henry G. Booker
English | PDF | 1984 | 355 Pages | ISBN : 9024729777 | 46.6 MB

The book aims to present current knowledge concerning the propagation of electro magnetic waves in a homogeneous magnetoplasma for which temperature effects are unimportant. It places roughly equal emphasis on the radio and the . hydromagnetic parts of the electromagnetic spectrum. The dispersion properties of a magnetoplasma are treated as a function both of wave frequency (assumed real) and of ionization density. However, there is little discussion of propagation in a stratified medium, for of collisions is included only which reference may be made to Budden [1] . The effect in so far as this can be done with simplicity. The book describes how pulses are radiated from both small and large antennas embedded in a homogeneous magneto plasma. The power density radiated from a type of dipole antenna is studied as a function of direction of radiation in all bands of wave frequency. Input reactance is not treated, but the dependence of radiation resistance on wave frequency is described for the entire electromagnetic spectrum. Also described is the relation between beaming and guidance for Alfven waves.
