Taking their name from a type of cooked pudding, the electronic duo Blancmange interlaced the arty, exotic dance rhythms of Talking Heads with the quirky melodrama of early-'80s British synth pop. Consisting of Neil Arthur (vocals, guitar) and Stephen Luscombe (keyboards), Blancmange formed in London, England in the late '70s. Originally called L360, Blancmange received immediate recognition when they sent the song "Sad Day" to DJ Stevo, who added it to a compilation LP of then-unsigned new wave groups, including future alternative icons like Depeche Mode and Soft Cell. Drummer Laurence Stevens was a member of the band for a short while, but they eventually replaced him with a drum machine…
Showaddywaddy had more UK hits in the 1970s than any other act…including Abba. From their winning appearance on an edition of ‘New Faces’, the ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ of the day, to become runners-up in the series’ ‘All Winners Final’, it took just a matter of months until the band released and secured their debut hit, ‘Hey Rock And Roll’, which reached #2 in the UK Singles Chart…

Collection features 4 CDs of the greatest artists, the biggest songs and the harder-to-find hits all uniquely themed to a genre… One could argue whether every track collected in this four-disc set is actually psychedelic or not, however one defines the term when it is applied to pop music, but everything here originally appeared at the close of the 1960s or the start of the 1970s, a time when pop music, and rock in particular, was expanding and playing with the notion of time, space, drugs, and a planet-wide pop culture. All that aside, there are some classic decked-out sides here, psychedelic or not, like the Lovin' Spoonful's "Summer in the City," the Amboy Dukes' "Journey to the Center of the Mind," Santana's "Soul Sacrifice," Moby Grape's "Omaha," the Byrds' "Eight Miles High," and Argent's "Hold Your Head Up," among dozens of other slightly tilted hits from the era.
Superlatives are inadequate for the box record company Universal Music recently released. Two hundred hits on ten CDs, hundreds of hits and a lot of TV and news clips on five DVDs and then another book as reference book. It can not be on. The disadvantage of the Testament of the Seventies is that for a hundred euros a hefty investment. The advantage that you are now ready to be a hit with your Seventies Collection.
80 Tracks spread across 4cds, really good set of tracks in a good order. Artists include Queen, Pharrell Williams, Outkast, Barry White, ABBA & Loads more.
