Even Norwegians get the blues. On “Tears Of The World,” guitarist Knut Reiersrud and his band find themselves in the company of the 72-year old vocalist Mighty Sam McClain, originally from Louisiana. Together, they have dedicated themselves to the music of the deep south and have given impressive proof that, when it comes to playing hard-driven R&B, soul or blues, it's not where you come from that's important.In the context of the regular flow of new releases on the ACT label, “Tears Of The World” is patently a stylistic outlier; and yet this detour is not all that surprising, given label founder Siggi Loch's passion for the blues. In Loch's autobiography he describes the experience of what he remembers as the “wildest night” of his life - until then, at least. ACT boss Siegfried Loch has however the ambition with his own label’s sampler to "get the information about new releases across in a manner which also provides pleasure to the listener". A sound adventure with a high chance of new discoveries are always key to ACT World Jazz anthologies - but they must give enjoyment to the listener.

Magic Moments 1 (2000). With the 1996 release of "A Little Magic In A Noisy World", the first of its anthology series, ACT began to document its repertory concept of a permanent exchange between jazz and other forms of music. The release of "Magic Moments" in January 2000 is the forth installment of this "music without borders". This time the CD combines over 40 ACTs on 18 titles.
Some of the musicians on this anthology speak the American - born language of jazz with the accent of their own mother tongue. Others add new words to the language, or expand the grammatical rules. Yet others speak in their native language, but owing to their long time away from their homeland, scatter scraps of American "slang" over their musical landscape…
Neverending White Lights is a groundbreaking collaborative project, band, and conceptual album series from recording artist & producer Daniel Victor. With three releases to date, Victor has incorporated artists from many different groups across the globe to help interpret his style of ethereal-alternative music. His brooding, melodic songwriting has shed new light on a wide array of voices in the industry and created a unique experience for listeners. In the later stages of producing and writing, Victor has turned more to using his own voice to portray the heart of the material, as the project continues to shift and reveal itself in new ways. There is no way to accurately describe, solidify, or pigeonhole Neverending White Lights. It would be like trying to catch a ghost, or put a dream in your back pocket. It's not possible. Some things don't need defining. The journey here is about music, and only that.
