Airelle Besson

Take Edouard Ferlet, a musician apart on the French scene. Heard with his reincarnations of Bach in solo piano, he crossed his keyboards with the harpsichordist Violaine Cochard, remains a pillar of the trio of Jean-Philippe Viret (which we will celebrate his twentieth anniversary this year!), Multiplies the collaborations in the universe jazz with Airelle Besson and Stéphane Kerecki.

A few years after the success of her album crossing Baroque music with folk, Love I Obey, the Franco-American singer Rosemary Standley visits Schubert, this time with the complicity of the Ensemble Contraste: We all have a few notes of Schubert buried deep inside us, say the artists, who have got together around his music and brought it to an original sound texture, the result of their varied influences- classical, pop, jazz, folk.

Quelques années après le succès de son album entre baroque et folk, "Love I Obey", la chanteuse franco-américaine Rosemary Standley rend visite à Schubert, avec cette fois la complicité de l'Ensemble Contraste : « Nous avons tous, enfouies en nous, quelques notes de Schubert » disent les musiciens qui se sont réunis autour de ses musiques et y ont apporté une texture sonore originale, fruit de leurs influences respectives : classiques, pop, jazz, folk. Ils ont sélectionné des lieder parmi les plus connus (extraits de Winterreise, Ständchen…) et des pièces instrumentales tout aussi universelles et ont intégré des rythmes venus d'autres pays ainsi que des instruments inhabituels dans ce répertoire : la trompette jazz d'Airelle Besson, la guitare de Kevin Seddiki, les percussions de Jean-Luc Di Fraja rejoignent les piano, violon, alto ou violoncelle de Contraste… sans oublier la participation exceptionnelle de la soprano Sandrine Piau qui rejoint Rosemary Standley pour quelques duos. Les arrangements sont signés Johan Farjot.

L'étonnant sopraniste Fabrice di Falco, accompagné de son trio jazz le Di Falco Quartet, nous offre une version très personnelle de grands airs baroques, avec en colonne vertébrale le Stabat Mater de Vivaldi.

Already a well-established name on the European jazz scene, at the end of 1979 came the decisive meeting in Rome with the trumpet player Chet Baker. Riccardo Del Fra played alongside Chet for about nine years both in Europe and Japan on tours, for the radio and for the television; a collaboration which led to the recording of twelve albums, videos (Live in London at the Ronnie Scott) and the movie Chet s Romance directed by Bertrand Fèvre.
