The Blues Masters series, much to Rhino`s credit, adopts an expansive definition of blues, allowing the likes of Count Basie, Blind Lemon Jefferson, Muddy Waters and even Louis Prima admission. Back in 1940, Keynote Recordings Inc. was a new, small and independent New York company with offices at 522 Fifth Ave., recently founded by Eric Bernay, the owner of a midtown Manhattan record store called The Music Room. Bernay was musically openminded and, looking for a place in the increasingly convulsed American record industry, he launched a catalog of varied music and performers.

Konk is the second album by British indie rock band The Kooks, released on 14 April 2008 on Virgin Records. Produced by Tony Hoffer, the album is named after the London studio where it was recorded, which is the property of Ray Davies. It was also released in a double disc version featuring a second CD, entitled RAK, which includes seven new songs not included on the album, an alternate version of the album track "See the Sun", recorded at RAK recording studios,and a demo track called "Brooklyn." This was the last album to feature original bassist Max Rafferty, who was fired from the band on 31 January 2008. The special edition RAK features the same album cover, apart from the blue 'Konk' sign being red.The album cover and name refer to the Konk recording studios in Crouch End, London which is owned and operated by The Kinks.

This is the most comprehensive collection of the rockabilly era that was ever assembed in one box. On these 40CDs there are 1000 carefully chosen songs. A booklet is also included with information, biographies and many rare illustrations.

Celebrating sixty years since the launch of one of the most successful independent record labels in US Popular music. Received wisdom would have us believe that before Motown, no black-owned record company had made a significant impact on the US mainstream. However, the actuality is something else entirely. Way back in the early 50s, long before Berry Gordy had written his first song, VEE-JAY RECORDS - a black, family owned and run, Chicago-based label - was establishing itself via a steady stream of Blues, R&B, DooWop and Gospel hits.

Initially created to be the house band for Allen Toussaint and Marshall Sehorn's Sansu Enterprises, the Meters started out backing such famous names as Lee Dorsey and Betty Harris.
