All This and World War II is a 1976 musical documentary that juxtaposes Beatles songs, performed by a number of musicians, with World War II newsreel footage and 20th Century Fox films from the 1940s. It lasted two weeks in cinemas and was quickly sent into storage. The original intention of the filmmakers was to use actual Beatles music in the film. The decision to use other artists covering Beatles music was made by the film's producers after they realised additional money could be made through a soundtrack album. The decision was a sound one, as the soundtrack actually generated more revenue than the film. The album reached number 23 on the UK album charts, with a total of seven weeks on the chart. Elton John’s rendition of "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" was previously released as a single in 1974 and had been a number one hit. Rod Stewart’s version of "Get Back" was subsequently released and became a UK hit single. Ambrosia’s cover version of "Magical Mystery Tour" was released and became a US hit single reaching #39 on the Billboard Charts. The Bee Gees, who contributed three songs, would go on to star in Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, another film that exclusively used Beatles songs.

So it is with Erich Kunzel, the Cincinnati Pops and the British early music/classical/pop vocal sextet The King's Singers – an undoubtedly sincere labor that gets it all wrong. From this album, a visitor from Saturn would get the idea that the Beatles' music was all about pretty tunes and satin-smooth harmonies.

Eric Gale's 1973 Forecast album on the Kudu label is one of his most varied texturally. Produced by Kudu label boss Creed Taylor, the rhythm tracks were arranged by Gale, and the horns and strings by Bob James. Taylor surrounded Gale with the cream-of-the-crop of the current session players: jazz's most soulful drummer, Idris Muhammad, was in the house for most of the album, and Rick Marotta filled out the rest. Saxophonists included Joe Farrell, Pepper Adams, and Jerry Dodgion (an underrated ace who made his name with Curtis Amy on his Pacific jazz sides in the early '60s), and trumpeters included Randy Brecker and Jon Faddis.

Alan Hartwell has been producing recording sessions with some of the worlds' finest Jazz Musicians since 1958. His career in the music business, which has now spanned four decades, began when he put together a recording band, tapping the best talent from what was previously the Arthur Godfrey Ochestra on CBS Television, to produce a session featuring drummer Cozy Cole from New Yorks' famous Metroploe Cafe, which became a worldwide #1 hit on the Pop Music Charts. Alan had pared down the larger orchestra to a recording ensemble of twelve, which consisted of Dick Hyman (Organ and Arrangements),Bert Farber (Piano), Al Caiola (Guitar), Wendall Marshall ((Bass), Peanuts Hucko (Clarinet), Pepper Adams and Barney Bigard (Saxaphones), Bernie Pevin and Joe Wilder (Trumpets), Urbie Green and Frank Rehak (Trombones), and of course featuring COZY COLE on Drums.

Wow, the sophomore album by multi-talented Moby Grape, brims with ambition, adventure and a determination to show the world the San Francisco quintet could do it all.
