For his second Criss Cross release I'll Take My Chances, saxophonist Dayna Stephens has put together an impressive recital showing off his skill for composition, arranging, and improvisation. The ten tunes presented here are a nice mix of Stephens's originals, an Ellington classic, and original tunes from contemporary pianists Brad Mehldau and Aaron Parks. The tunes all prove to be fantastic vehicles for Stephens to showcase his warm, soulful sound, and the prowess of the group he has put together for this recording.

New York-based violist Nathan Schram's debut solo album Oak and the Ghost is now available on New Amsterdam's Windmill Series. Featuring Attacca Quartet (of which Schram is a member) and Becca Stevens, Oak and the Ghost features 9 of Schram's original compositions and will be available on all digital platforms on November 15.

Sky Trails, his third album of original material in four years, continues fearless folk rock legend David Crosby’s unexpected late-period resurgence. In his eighth decade, Crosby is not only surviving, but thriving personally and creatively. Out September 29th on BMG, Sky Trails features a full band sound that takes Crosby in a new musical direction as the set tilts toward jazz. "It’s a natural thing for me," says Crosby, who joyously embraced the challenge of the shifting song structures. "I’ve always felt more comfortable there. There’s complexity, intricacy and subtleties in the music. I like that stuff."

Inspired by the film of the same name produced and directed by Andy Schocken and Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, Song of Lahore is a companion album to the film. Recorded in New York City over the summer of 2015, the Sachal Ensemble provided the traditional sounds of their home in Pakistan, presenting several traditional Folk and even some Pop melodies of the Southeastern subcontinent.

The US-born, London-based trumpeter and composer Andre Canniere follows up his acclaimed 'The Darkening Blue' with a new release on Whirlwind. 'Ghost Days' reunites him with singer Brigitte Beraha and saxophonist Tori Freestone, and introduces a new, all-star UK rhythm team of Rick Simpson (piano) Tom Farmer (bass) and Andrew Bain (drums).
