Grammy-nominated vocalist and guitarist ​Becca Stevens​ and acclaimed pianist and composer ​Elan Mehler​ have a friendship that stretches back over a decade. The pair first began playing together in 2009 for Mehler’s record ​The After Suite​ (Brownswood), and toured the US and Europe. During this period Becca guested a couple of times at Elan’s residency in the Swiss Alps. It was a concentrated musical experience, during their stays they would often play for two weeks, four sets a night.

North Carolina-bred, Brooklyn based singer/composer/multi-instrumentalist Becca Stevens already has impressive musical output and has received copious praise from the likes of The New York Times, who describe her as ''a best-kept secret'' and ''impressively absorbing.'' She has recently been featured on Snarky Puppy's new ''Family Dinner–Volume 2,'' as well as collaborating with various artists such as Esperanza Spalding, Brad Mehldau, Jose James, Alan Hampton to name a few.

Perfect Animal marks a quantum musical leap for the North Carolina-bred, New York-based artist. It boasts her most personally-charged songwriting and her most urgent, impassioned singing to date, along with vivid, adventurous arrangements that show off her fiercely expressive guitar work as well as the talents of her longstanding band: keyboardist/accordionist Liam Robinson and bassist Chris Tordini, both of whom Stevens has worked with since 2005, and drummer/percussionist Jordan Perlson, who joined three years later.
