Tenor saxophonist Ralph Moore offers up a satisfying array of neo hard bop numbers on Furthermore which features some of the up and coming stars of the Wynton Marsalis retro trad jazz school, including trumpeter Roy Hargrove, pianist Benny Green, and bassist Peter Washington, as well as veteran drummers Kenny Washington (Peter's brother) and Victor Lewis. The CD opens with the thematically rich Moore original "Hopscotch" (reminiscent of Coltrane's "Moment's Notice") and works its way through Green's driving "Phoebe's Samba" and Hargrove's Wayne Shorter inspired mood piece "Into Dawn," with all three tunes providing prime vehicles for the innovative yet restrained soloing of these young players…

As part of the celebration Britten's Centenary in 2013, this new recording presents Britten's five Canticles, performed by tenor Ben Johnson with James Baillieu accompanying. Johnson describes his attraction to these works in his self-penned notes for the disc: "Each is deep with meaning or subversion, a trademark of Britten’s music to a modern audience. They are song, opera, cantata and chamber music, and so they correspond with the most delicate of intimacy and to the most effective of grand gesture … In his biography of Britten, Humphrey Carpenter points out the close links between the Canticles and Britten’s operas. This answers in part their difference from the ‘usual’ song repertoire: their religious flavour (a stronger taste in some than others) mixed with the circumstances of their composition make for a unique strand in Britten’s output."

Time Has Come. It's not just the title of Ben Poole's new studio album but also the consensus of the press, punters and star players who have caught this British gunslinger on his rise from hot-tip to headline act. Already, Ben has been dubbed 'f**king amazing' by Jeff Beck, 'really great' by Gary Moore, 'ferocious' by Guitarist and 'one to watch' by The Blues. Time Has Come also features the cream of Europe's blues guitar players: Aynsley Lister, Henrik Freischlader & Todd Sharpville. Add to this wonderful backing vocals by Stevie Nimmo and you have a real quality album. Time Has Come is the sound of an artist whose time is now and an album that defies you to take it off your stereo or smartphone.

George Moore - Confessioni di un giovane inglese
Italian | 2018 | 264 pages | ISBN: 8867088661 | EPUB | 0,3 MB
