A two-disc set of late-period (1969-1976) Ike and Tina taken largely from the duo's Liberty Records catalog…
Ever notice how rock bands tend to keep things interesting for themselves by pointlessly dragging out their songs and introducing awkward conceptual threads? Also, how many bands veil their subject matter in euphemisms to avoid being taken literally, to stay safe, or – better yet – to be "mysterious?" Big Black's final LP does the diametric opposite of both…
What started as a one-shot joke back in 2007 with Sgt. The collaboration between soulful singer Beth Hart and popular blues-rock guitarist Joe Bonamassa has been both critically-acclaimed and commercially successful. In 1974, during the heyday of the New York salsa explosion, the Fania All Stars were invited to perform in front of 80,000 people at a stadium in Zaire, Africa. Featuring exquisite performances by Celia Cruz, Héctor Lavoe and the All Stars' many other virtuoso players and vocalists, the concert was captured on film. Unfortunately, this precious footage has been available only in substandard versions, quickly becoming a rare collector's item. Now, Fania is proud to offer a definitive edition of this musical treasure. The brand new edition of Fania All Stars - Live In Africa includes a remastered DVD of the original film, as well as a CD with the audio of the concert.
