Literally, you have failed to even enter into their consciousness as a being worthy of recognition. Without skipping a beat the girl you addressed turns her back to you and keeps talking to her friend, leaving you standing there with your dick in your hand. The girls won’t even LOOK at you… EVEN IF YOU’RE DOING EVERYTHING RIGHT.

Glaswegian psychedelic heavyweights Helicon are soon set to release their second album, the aptly- titled ‘This Can Only Lead to Chaos.’ Arriving January 24th via Fuzz Club, it follows on from their 2017 self-titled debut and a recent three-track ‘Zero Fucks’ EP, released earlier this year. A 9-track effort, it sees the band delve even deeper into their self-confessed “evil psych rock with smatterings of sentient sitar” - coming out of the other end with something more raw and heavy, and far closer to the all-consuming live show that they’ve spent the last decade frying minds with.

Full throttle, flat out, and with no margin for error, the Texas songwriter knows all about the art of the crash-and-burn. Which is what makes Cauthen one of the most fascinating, and eccentric, new voices in country music – and not just because of his Waylon-and-Cash-incarnate baritone.

Ce week-end, je me suis rendu au festival du podcast de Paris, l’occasion pour moi de parler avec des créateurs, des producteurs, des journalistes ainsi que de découvrir de nouveaux contenus. Sur les conseils de Lou Howard, je me rends à 14h dans la salle rencontre pour assister à l’avant-première d’une fiction audio : L’employé. Je ne m’étais pas informé de ce à quoi j’allais assister (mais en gros, on a vu une porte avec de la lumière, on est entré). On nous donne des casques et comme au cinéma, chaque spectateur présent se retrouve, en même temps que les autres, plongé dans un autre univers. Certains observent les réactions de leur voisin, d’autre fixent le plafond, d’autres ferment les yeux pour visualiser la scène. Chacun à notre manière, nous sommes plongés dans une expérience auditive nouvelle. A la fin des 30 minutes d’écoute, je me tourne vers mon ami, nous sommes tous deux la bouche grande ouverte, les yeux écarquillés : le « mind blown » le plus synchro possible.

When Los Angeles grrrl-punks The Regrettes broke through in the mid-2010s, they were known for their ferocious riffing and unapologetic attitude. On their third album, Further Joy, they lean into the light, pairing their withering observations on modern life with exuberant choruses and gleaming guitars.

This is gonna sound weird but black metal makes my mouth water. That’s no exaggeration. And the rawer the quality and the greater the album, the more my mouth waters. When I first got into the scene—some fifteen years ago—I started from the beginning. First, it was the well-known Norwegian outfits, like Burzum, Darkthrone, Enslaved, Immortal, Mayhem, Thorns, and Ulver. Then, the Swedish stuff (like Dissection) and the third-wave shit (like Marduk, Watain, and Gorgoroth). But the ones I came back to the most were the underrated groups, like Ofermod, Svartsyn, Urgehal, and Taake. To me, this latter group has some of the best black metal ever recorded. In Taake‘s case, Nattestid ser porten vid, Over Bjoergvin graater himmerik, and Hordalands doedskvad still make me dribble over my lower lip like a fucking vegetable. But, like most black metal giants, Taake‘s recent material has begun to slip in quality. Their 2014 release, Stridens hus, left my throat parched and now my need for nourishment is at an all-time high. The question is: will Taake‘s newest release, Kong Vinter, wet lips or will it cause them to crack and bleed?

Certified Lover Boy is the sixth studio album by Canadian rapper Drake. It was released on September 3, 2021, through OVO Sound and Republic Records. The album was initially set to be released in January 2021, but was delayed. It features guest appearances by Lil Baby, Lil Durk, Giveon, Jay-Z, Travis Scott, Future, Young Thug, Yebba, 21 Savage, Project Pat, Tems, Ty Dolla Sign, Lil Wayne, Rick Ross and Kid Cudi. Thematically, Drake explained that Certified Lover Boy is "a combination of toxic masculinity and acceptance of truth which is inevitably heartbreaking".

Yummy is the band’s 18th studio album. It has 12 tracks, produced by Leo Abrahams and mixed by Cenzo Townsend.

2023 was a remarkable year for James - with a Top 3 album (their 9th Top 10 album), a sell out UK tour with a 25 piece orchestra and 8 piece choir onstage with them, a stunning special guest appearance at Latitude Festival, a headline show at The Acropolis in Greece and receiving the Icon award at The Ivor Novello awards in recognition of their songwriting. Amongst all of this, the band recorded an album to be released in April 2024. It is produced by Leo Abrahams (who has previously collaborated with Jon Hopkins, Brian Eno, Jarvis Cocker, Imogen Heap and Regina Spektor) and mixed by Cenzo Townsend (Courteeners, Specials, Keane, Snow Patrol, Everything Everything). The artwork for both the album and first single was designed by Stephen Kennedy (Studio Fury) who is responsible for a number of iconic works over the years including the Rolling Stones' latest album 'Hackney Diamonds'.
