‘Rest in Keys’ is the fourth solo album from Bob Katsionis, keyboard player and live rhythm guitarist for Greek power metal heroes, Firewind. Anyone who has ever seen Firewind live will tell you that he is an integral part of the band, an incredible musical talent and a real unsung hero of heavy metal. So it’s nice to see that Bob, a great artist in his own right, is stretching his creative wings once more and flying out from under Gus G’s ever growing shadow. The new album is a triumph, and one can only hope that it brings Bob the more widespread recognition that he deserves. The only criticism worth making is that some of the guest vocalists, on the few tracks where they do make an appearance, just aren’t up to the same standard as the instrumentation.

The autumnal sound of Britain at the turn of the 70s, looking out through wet window panes to a new decade with a mixture of melancholy and optimism for what might come next. With the Beatles gone and the pound sinking, a new and distinctive sound emerges, led by flutes and mellotrons. Available in 18-track CD and 19-track double LP formats.

In Chicago bop circles, Ira Sullivan's name has commanded the type of respect that Chicagoans have given the likes of Gene Ammons and Johnny Griffin. Mention Sullivan's name to the local jazz connoisseurs who have spent countless nights hanging out at the Green Mill, the Jazz Showcase, or Andy's, and you're likely to hear a very enthusiastic dissertation about the Washington, D.C.-born trumpeter/reedman's contributions to jazz in the Windy City – which is ironic in light of the fact that Sullivan moved from Chicago to Florida back in 1960. Nonetheless, his name still carries so much weight on Chicago's jazz scene that some Chicagoans (and non-Chicagoans as well) will want to acquire Bob Albanese's One Way/Detour simply because of Sullivan's presence.

Makiko Hirabayashi and Bob Rockwell performed as a duo for the first time in 2011, at a concert for the tsunami victims of Fukushima. Music on this album was written by Makiko in a period of three years that followed the event. This album holds a wide palette of emotions, ranging from confusion, fear, rage to that of hope, joy and childlike innocence. The music has kept both its fragile and explosive elements throughout the album. Makiko Hirabayashi and Bob Rockwell both moved to Copenhagen, from Japan and USA respectively in 1990 and 1983, and made it their home. They have been active on the European jazz scene for the last two to three decades, and have earlier collaborated on a quintet project, Grey to Blue (Stunt Records, 2008).

Tenor-saxophonist Bob Reynolds has uplifted many sessions through the years including working with Snarky Puppy (with whom he recently won a Grammy), John Mayer, and as the leader of eight previous CDs. However he considers the ensemble featured on Quartet to be his first regular band. “It’s not just a few guys playing a gig or an all-star group. This four-piece unit has played together for a couple of years including a monthly residency at Los Angeles’ famed Baked Potato jazz club and we’ll soon be touring Europe and the UK. “Things have been really progressing and I wanted to capture our chemistry on recording. This is the first time I’ve led a group that reached this level.”

Peggy Lee's five-year stint with Decca doesn't get much attention, since her period at Capitol not only lasted longer but surrounded the Decca years and resulted in many more hits. (One caveat: two of her biggest, "Lover" and "Black Coffee," were recorded for Decca.) While there, she enjoyed the freedom to write much of her own material she'd proved herself as a professional songwriter years before and pursue projects that were outside the norm for a pop singer during the '50s (much less, for a female pop singer). One of those is the unjustly neglected Songs From Walt Disney's Lady and the Tramp, a song cycle written with Sonny Burke that spends time dealing with the confusion and stresses of a new mother at home ("Jim Dear," "What Is a Baby?"), but is remembered strictly as the origin of the "Siamese Cat Song."

"In the year 2017, who better to carry forth the Chicago blues beacon other than John Primer and Bob Corritore? Both have pasts steeped in the blues tradition and each has consistently represented their fundamental roots of the Chicago blues idiom throughout their illustrious careers. Individually, Primer and Corritore command a towering presence, but in combination the power of their blues is unstoppable.
