"I consider much of my music… to be blues-based," claims La Monte Young, the acknowledged father of minimalism. This might not seem so bizarre considering his early collaborations with jazz musicians and the undoubted minimal qualities of blues pioneers like Howlin' Wolf and Muddy Waters. Like many of his works, Young has been developing the piece here, "Young's Dorian Blues in G," since its inception in 1960, including his work with his Theatre of Eternal Music ensemble with John Cale and Tony Conrad.

Punch Brothers third Nonesuch disc, Who's Feeling Young Now?, recorded in Nashville and produced and engineered by Jacquire King (Tom Waits, Kings of Leon, Modest Mouse, Josh Ritter), contains some of the most exhilaratingly direct, sonically daring performances the group has ever recorded. As the five members have matured together on the road and in the studio, their approach to writing and performing has, conversely, become looser, simpler, and, as the album title suggests, more unaffectedly youthful. At this point, virtuosity is a given among these already prodigious players; the operative word for Who's Feeling Young Now? is camaraderie.

The Aerosmith Anthology was a 2001 compilation album by American hard rock band Aerosmith. This compilation holds their greatest hits of their Geffen Records years between Done with Mirrors and Get a Grip, as well as some un-released material, B-sides, and live versions.

Jesse Davis comes close to capturing the sound and exuberant spirit of Cannonball Adderley on this release while also hinting strongly at Charlie Parker, Phil Woods and Richie Cole. Davis utilizes a strong backup crew that includes guitarist Peter Bernstein and pianist Brad Mehldau to perform a set of superior tunes. The music is not particularly innovative but is a fine example of high-quality bebop played by some promising young players.

A former student of Ellis Marsalis at the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts, Jesse Davis is one the most respected musicians in New Orleans. In addition to leading his own group, Davis has performed with such stellar jazz musicians as Jack McDuff, Major Holley, Cecil Payne, Illinois Jacquet, Chico Hamilton, Junior Mance, Kenny Baron, Cedar Walton, Nicholas Payton, and Roy Hargrove
