Hurriedly put together in the wake of the success of the title song, and containing the follow-up hit "We've Only Just Begun," Close to You is a surprisingly strong album, and not just for those hits. Richard Carpenter's originals "Maybe It's You" and "Crescent Noon" are superb showcases for Karen Carpenter's developing talent, the latter a superbly atmospheric, hauntingly beautiful art song of the kind that Judy Collins was doing well at the time, and gorgeously arranged…
The incomparable Johnny Cash takes the stage with his wife, June Carter Cash, the Statler Brothers, Carl Perkins and the Carter Family in this 1971 concert filmed live for Danish television. A memorable set list includes "Folsom Prison Blues," "I Walk the Line," "A Boy Named Sue," "Man in Black" "Me and Bobby McGee," "Help Me Make It Through the Night," "Blue Suede Shoes," "Flowers on the Wall" and the Maybelle Carter tribute, "Dear Mama."
There have been a few excellent debut metal albums in 2006. So far, my two favourite, Cellador's Enter Deception and Outworld's Outworld have been, for the most part, very well received by the metal community. The later is an excellent offering from an up and coming progressive metal band, and those who enjoy this type of music should readily enjoy it. Fusing extreme virtuoso; muscular, high speed riffs; solid song writing; several epic tracks; and excellent, high flying vocals; Outworld's self titled debut is definitely an impressive offering from the Texas metallers. This band is one that the metal community should look out for in the future, especially fans of bands such as Symphony X, Tad Morose, and Dream Theater.
Halloween II is a 1981 Horror film directed by Rick Rosenthal, and written by John Carpenter and Debra Hill. It is the second installment in the Halloween series and is a direct sequel to Halloween set on the same night of October 31, 1978 as the seemingly unkillable Michael Myers continues to follow his intended victim (his sister) Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) to a nearby hospital while Dr. Sam Loomis (Donald Pleasence) is still in pursuit of his patient. Stylistically, Halloween II reproduces certain key elements that made the original Halloween a success, such as first-person camera perspectives and unexceptional settings. The sequel was a box office success, grossing over $25.5 million in the United States.
