Kick Up the Dust is the new release from Howlin’ Dog Records of the powerhouse soul-Americana all-female vocal group hONEyhoUSe. The music of hONEyhoUSe continues to mature, deepen and expand in this fifth release from the group.
With five offerings from each of the three lead vocalists, there’s a great variety in the journey through Kick Up the Dust, with Hillary’s hard-hitting title track and the in-your-face rockin’ blues of My Own Sunshine, through Yvonne’s driving, incisive Frames and the laid-back groove of Promise Land, to Mandy’s rollicking country-pickin’ Daze and her sweet Better Than This. All but two tunes are original, with Mandy delivering a couple of killer renditions of Michael Hearne’s Songwriter and Jimmy Davis’ Miss.
