Ces 10 albums constituent 10 jalons qui ont marqué sa carrière emblématique : 'Ma jeunesse fout le camp'*, 'Comment te dire adieu'*, 'La question' et 'Message Personnel' ont façonné sa légende d'icone Pop dans les années 60 et 70, tandis qu''En anglais'* témoigne de son aura internationale. Le confidentiel 'Entracte'* reste un de ces recueils les plus cultes. Marquant son grand retour en 1996, 'Le Danger' a fait date. Lui succédant dans les années 2000, 'Clair-obscur' (qui comprend la reprise 'Puisque vous partez en voyage'), 'Tant de belles choses' et 'Parenthèses' (albums de duo avec Bashung, Biolay, Dutronc…) restent par ailleurs des sommets de sa discographie. *Remasterisés récemment en 2016 et 2017.

Piano virtuoso Aldo Ciccolini passed away at the age of 89 in his home in Paris, France, in February 2015. Born in Naples in 1925, he entered the Naples Conservatory at the age of 9, where he studied piano and composition, debuted with Chopin's Piano Concerto No. 2 at the age of 17, and at the age of 22 became the youngest professor at his alma mater. After that, at the age of 24, he won the Long-Thibaud International Competition and moved to Paris, eventually becoming a French citizen and active for many years as a renowned pianist representing the French music world. After becoming a professor at the Paris Conservatory at the age of 46, his activities became more international, and he visited Japan many times.Ciccolini was an interpreter and advocate of "modern French music," and also devoted himself to mentoring the next generation of musicians. This album not only contains that music, but also 115 tracks of piano masterpieces from a wide range of repertoire, including Chopin, Bach, Brahms, Prokofiev, and Rachmaninoff, totaling 6 hours and 25 minutes.

The name of Henri Dutilleux (1916–2013) is associated above all with orchestral music. His international reputation originated with the Second Symphony, ‘Le Double’ (premièred in 1959) and was confirmed by works such as Métaboles and the cello concerto Tout un monde lointain… But what about before that? In the centennial year of the composer's birth, the Orchestre National des Pays de la Loire and Pascal Rophé present a programme which focusses on works composed before 1954, and offers the opportunity to discover a less familiar but by no means negligible side of Dutilleux's creative activity: songs and music for the theatre and film. Several of the works on this disc are recorded for the first time in these versions, or indeed at all. Performed by the French baritone Vincent Le Texier, Éloignez-vous – one of the Cassou settings – and Quatre Mélodies appear for the first time on disc in the version for orchestra. The complete score of the ballet Le Loup only exists in a recording made in 1954, while the Trois Tableaux symphoniques – originally composed as incidental music for a stage adaptation of Wuthering Heights – and the extracts from the film score La Fille du Diable are here made available on CD for the first time.
