The Isle of Wight Festival - is a music festival which takes place every year on the Isle of Wight in England. It was originally held from 1968 to 1970. These original events were promoted and organised by the Foulk brothers (Ron, Ray and Bill Foulk) under the banner of their company Fiery Creations Limited. The venues were Ford Farm (near Godshill), Wootton and Afton Down (near Freshwater) respectively. The 1969 event was notable for the appearance of Bob Dylan and the Band. This was Dylan's first paid performance since his motor cycle accident some three years earlier, and was held at a time when many still wondered if he would ever perform again.

NOW That’s What I Call Music’s Yearbook series continues with 1990, only the second time they’ve dipped their toe into the decade we like to call “the 1990s”. There’s loads of great songs and artists on this compilation, including George Michael, Elton John, Roxette, New Order, The KLF, The Beautiful South, Pet Shop Boys, Sting, Duran Duran, Kylie, Whitney, er, Appleby… and that’s just CD 1! The second disc is home to a few memorable collaborations, namely DNA & Suzanne Vega, Adamski & Seal and there’s definitely a ‘dance’ vibe with contributions from Deee-Lite, Soul II Soul, Adventures Of Stevie V, SNAP! before it goes a bit ‘indie’ towards the end with The Charlatans, The Stone Roses, The Cure and Primal Scream, etc.

Featuring 60 of the best known anthemic hits from the ’90’s and ’00’s, ’The Best Indie Album In The World…Ever!’ brings together the most incredible and genre challenging music on one collection.‘Indie’ was a broad title, and whilst recognising that the music wasn’t produced to be mainstream pop, during the ’90’s ‘Brit-Pop’ became a cultural movement with music and fashion colliding as they had in the ’60’s to re-invigorate the charts and radio.

Three CD set. 1992 saw the British indie scene unwittingly poised to go overground and global in the wake of the guitar's revival in the early 1990s. 'C92' captures something of a no-man's land moment in time, with the "baggy" scene brushed aside by American grunge and the artists who'd come to define the rest of the decade only beginning to emerge. From the intensity of shoegaze pioneers Ride and Lush, through to melody-driven 60s revivalists Inspiral Carpets and The Stairs, in hindsight the year can be seen as a period of healthy transition and expansion which ultimately saw the scene pulled together by the music media under the umbrella term "Britpop".

Over four hours of party tunes and afters grooves, packed with punchy remixes from Chemical Brothers, Arthur Baker, Norman Cook, Midfield General, Mint Royale and Lynch Mob. As Britpop exploded across UK culture, Cool Britannia ruled the airwaves and was plastered across the pages of magazines and newspapers. Music festivals were making their great comeback and DJs and dance acts were sharing stages and headline slots with the biggest guitar bands around. This compilation takes a slippery trip through the hedonistic tunes that were filling the dancefloors, fields, front rooms and bedrooms across Great Britain as the country drank, danced and partied towards a new millennium. Featuring over 50 cuts across 4CDs bouncing from Britpop to Trip Hop and bopping from Big Beat to Techno with a superb selection of relentless remixes, chart-topers and chilled beats thrown in for good measure.

If one had to point to a single initial salvo that launched the garage rock revival movement in the 1970s and ‘80s, it would have to be the release of Nuggets: Original Artyfacts from the First Psychedelic Era 1965-1968 in 1972. Elektra Records had approached rock critic Lenny Kaye (not yet the guitarist with the Patti Smith Group) with the notion of compiling an album of great, overlooked rock tunes, but what Kaye came up with was something significantly different – an overview of the great, wild era when American bands, goaded by the British Invasion, began honing in on a tougher and more eclectic rock & roll sound, and kids were reawakened to the possibilities of two guitars, bass, and drums.

Having successfully crossed over from the bedsit to the mainstream throughout 1989 and 1990, independent artists quickly began to dominate the British musical landscape, bringing an authentic new energy to a stagnant, Thatcherite pop scene. 1991 saw countless indie artists score hit singles and albums as the scene continued to mutate and adapt regionally, politically and aesthetically - from Manic Street Preachers’ urgent, punk-infused anthems and the outer edges of shoegaze and psychedelic songcraft offered by Chapterhouse and Levitation, through to the dancefloor friendly adventures of Flowered Up and St Etienne, the art-school informed Kingmaker and established baggy favourites The Charlatans, 1991 offered up the broadest and richest smorgasbord of accessible, street-level artists the UK’s youth had known in a decade.
