The disappearances all have the same thing in common, a crime scene covered in blood but with no sign of the victim. The police are perplexed until they get a break in the case when one of the victims manages to escape. Chuck goes to interview the victim at the hospital but is confronted by a crazed old man who introduces himself as Abraham Van Rental. He warns a disbelieving Chuck that an evil scourge is about to descend on the city of Los Angeles - the scourge of the TRAMPIRES - a mutated hybrid of vampire and tramp.

In the Old Testament book of Exodus, God calls the prophet Moses to lead the Hebrew slaves out of Egypt. When the Pharaoh refuses to let them go, Moses sends ten terrifying plagues into Pharaoh's land. The first six (red river water, droves of frogs, insects and disease) nearly destroy Pharaoh's city, but still he refuses to free the Hebrew slaves. Plagues seven, eight, and nine bring hail, locusts, and darkness. Then, the final mysterious 10th plague kills the firstborns of Egypt. A brilliant documentary taking a look at life in the favela slums in Rio De Janeiro where a daily conflict exists, some call it a war, between ghetto residents and the police. With a labour market which doesn't pay a living wage to low end employees and positions netting an average 10x more in the drug supply chain ever present, it's no wonder why people in Brazil's slums turn to a life of crime. They sell drugs to the wealthy middle class (where there is always a market) and buy military grade weapons on the black market (mostly from corrupt police).

So Emmanuelle is a photographer hanging out in Rio. She takes pictures, she gets laid, you know the drill. In between terrible sex scenes, we get a lot of shots of Rio de Janeiro. "City of God" strived for the stark realism of life in the Rio slums but I think this film really captured the bleak despair of living in Rio while making an impotent sex film. At any rate, the Rio scenes were more interesting than the sex. Where is Krista Allen when I need her? This movie almost blasted me into a coma. Beam up to Krista's love ship and leave Rio in the dust.
