For his sixth collaboration with the [French] label Artalinna, Vestard Shimkus invites us to discover an eclectic selection of his works for solo piano.

If jazz remains the “sound of surprise”, Luxembourgish pianist Michel Reis still cleaves to that hoary definition of the music. While still attractively accessible, Reis’s solo improvisations constantly take unexpected directions. He plays the piano “straight”, but still somehow manages to make it sound deliciously unfamiliar, as if it was only invented yesterday. On his second recording as leader for CAM JAZZ, Reis dedicates his music For A Better Tomorrow.
