Australian experimental electronic music composer Ben Frost was born in 1980 and grew up in Melbourne, influenced by a wide range of music from classical minimalism to punk rock and black metal, as well as sound art and design. In 2001, he self-released his debut EP, Music for Sad Children, which was well-received and led to an album release, Steel Wound, in 2003 on Lawrence English's acclaimed Room 40 label. The album was composed of treated acoustic guitar recordings made in the desolate Australian outback, combined with field recordings by English, and was warmly received by the worldwide ambient community.

Will Bates and Brooke Blair have been tapped to score the CW pilot In the Dark. The show is created by Corinne Kingsbury and stars Perry Mattfeld, Brooke Markham, Keston John and Austin Nichols. The drama follows a flawed and irreverent blind woman who is the only “witness” to the murder of her drug-dealing friend and sets out with her dog to find the killer. Kingsbury is also executive producing the project with Ben Stiller (Tropic Thunder, Zoolander), Jackie Cohn and Nicky Weinstock (Alex Strangelove). Michael Showalter (The Big Sick) is directing the pilot episode. The CW is expected to announce later this month whether In the Dark will be picked up to series.

Film, television, and video game music composer Daniel Pemberton got his start in avant-garde and ambient electronic music, influenced as a teenager by statuesque electronic artists such as Jean Michel Jarre, Tomita, and Vangelis. Pemberton began collecting keyboard gear at an early age and wrote a tips column for a video game magazine to earn enough money for increasingly high-end equipment. He also began recording his own compositions, and passed a tape on to Mixmaster Morris at one of his gigs. When word (as well as additional tapes) continued to spread, Pemberton recorded his debut album, Bedroom, which gained release in late 1994 for Pete Namlook's highly collectible Fax Records. The Mixmaster Morris connection also led to work for Coldcut's Ninja Tune label, including a DJ Vadim remix released on the latter's U.S.S.R. Reconstruction LP.

In this third and final cycle Ben’s score evolves beyond the sharp string orchestrations of the first cycle and the percussive distortion of the second, towards a sea of disintegrated brass & woodwind arrangements and Eno-inspired ambience. Lakeshore Records will release the album in the Americas and Invada Records will release the album in the rest of the world digitally on July 24. The third and final season of Dark is airing now on Netflix.
