David Cieri, a visionary and prolific composer of movie music for celebrated filmmakers Ken Burns, Tony Gerber, and Barak Goodman has made a new score for one of the essential films of the silent era, director Carl Th. Dreyer's La Passion de Jeanne d’Arc (The Passion of Joan of Arc). On January 24, 2020, Ropeadope Records is pleased to release An Homage to Carl Th. Dreyer's 1928 The Passion of Joan of Arc, Cieri's expansive and gripping new score for this cinematic classic. Cieri's release can be synchronized to the film for the full experience, but stands on it own as a dynamic and independent musical work.

This first volume of the collected original compositions of David “Dawg” Grisman is comprised of works written between 1963 and 1975, compiled chronologically in the order in which they were written. These performances were selected by the composer and include eight previously unissued tracks featuring David with Vassar Clements, Jerry Garcia, Bill Keith, Tony Rice, Frank Vignola, Clarence White and many others. In a March 1996 concert review, a Chicago Tribune critic described Grisman's "dawg" music as being among "the most important innovations in American music. By blending the exuberant spirit of bluegrass, the inspired melodies of classic American pop, the improvisatory techniques of instrumental jazz and even the plaintive gestures of turn of the century Klezmer, David Grisman has created a distinctive form of American music and lifted it to the level of high art."

In the fall of 2017, David Huckfelt left behind the familiar—the comfort of his home in Minneapolis; the camaraderie of his critically acclaimed band, The Pines; the luxuries of heat, hot water, and electricity—and relocated to Isle Royale, America’s most remote and least visited national park in mighty Lake Superior. Six hours by boat off the Michigan coast, Isle Royale is the largest island in the world’s largest freshwater lake, an isolated stretch of wilderness seemingly forgotten by the 20th century (to say nothing of the 21st). There, as an Artist In Residence selected by the National Park Service, Huckfelt spent ten hours a day for two straight weeks writing in solitude, channeling the mysterious and lonesome island’s spirits into his stunning debut solo album, ‘Stranger Angels.’
