"Romance" is David Cassidy's 7th studio album as a solo artist and his first released by Arista Records. Released in 1985, Romance was the only studio album Cassidy released during the 1980s. Since growing out of his teen idol fame from The Partridge Family, Cassidy continued to try to re-invent his music career; however, in the United States, his latter albums from the 1970s did not chart. Therefore, for the album Romance, Arista excluded a U.S. release and released the album only in Europe, Israel, Japan, South Africa and Australia. Romance hit #20 on the British charts in May 1985. George Michael sang on the song, "The Last Kiss" (originally recorded with different lyrics by Cliff Richard in 1981 as Young Love), which peaked at #6 in the UK Top 40 and charted all over Europe and in Australia.

Although critically well received, the album did not chart in any country. "Gettin' It in the Street" is the 3rd and final release by David Cassidy on RCA Records and would also be the last album David Cassidy released in the United States until 1990 (with the release of David Cassidy). "Gettin' it in the Street" was released in Germany and Japan in November 1976, but did not reach the album charts. The few copies that were pressed for the U.S. were released in January 1977.

I have been a David Cassidy fan since 1970 when I first heard and enjoyed his music and great voice. Some of his stuff has obviously been better than others. For Me personally it is his relatively more recent music that I enjoy the most. His voice has become even more husky, soulful and 'dreamy' than in those distant days of 'Daydreamer' and 'I am a clown'. I find it amazing that the Romance album isn't available on CD.

Cassidy's Girl

Cassidy's Girl by David Goodis
English | October 21st, 2016 | ISBN: 0679738517 | 265 pages | EPUB | 2.33 MB

Hailed as one of Goodis's best works, this is a gripping crime novel about a disgraced airline pilot who has sunk to the lower depths of existence. Disaster trails the forlorn Cassidy like a hellhound. His self-destructive pattern results not only in self-torment but drags two women, Mildred and Doris, down into the gutter with him. Set in the hard streets of Philadelphia, Goodis's home ground, Cassidy's Girl entails blackmail, murder and the usual rough stuff, endowing his icy streets and wretched shanties with expressionistic intensity.
