Developing Chinese

DEVELOPING CHINESE FLUENCY is a rigorous communication skills training program that seeks to systematically expand the intermediate learners' vocabulary, and help them achieve advanced level proficiency in the oral and written use of the language – particularly in the areas of description, comparison and introduction – in a relatively short period of time.

This edition is the revision based on the first edition. This set of textbooks are written by combining training of comprehensive language abilities and specific language skills, which have three levels and five series, namely beginner, intermediate, advanced, comprehensive, listening, speaking, reading and writing. The overall goal of this set of textbooks is for fully developing and improving learners' Chinese language abilities, communicative abilities, comprehensive application abilities, learning interests and learning abilities.

This volume focuses on Chinese economic statecraft during the first decade of Deng Xiaoping’s reform and opening-up policies, from 1978 to 1989. During these years, Chinese economic engagement with the external world was tentative and experimental, with long-term strategies still decidedly under development.
