After his stint as leader of The Raspberries, Eric Carmen had a succesful solo career. "All by myself" is from Carmen's solo debut album from 1975. One of his most successful songs, it has since been covered by numerous artists. All of the songs on this album were written by Carmen except "Hungry Eyes" from the movie 'Dirty Dancing'. Eric Carmen has an unerring sense of melody and songcraft that has resulted in some of the best pop rock ever. Just try not to dance to "That's Rock 'n Roll"...impossible. "She Did It" is the greatest Beach Boy song that Brian Wilson never wrote, and "It hurts Too Much" has a Phil Spector-like power to it. This album is a must for music lovers. If you're a fan of Billy Joel and/or Barry Manilow, you will love this album.

French band Air‘s soundtrack to Sofia Coppola’s 1999 film The Virgin Suicides will be reissued as a limited edition five-disc super deluxe edition box set this June. The album has been remastered and the box set will include the soundtrack pressed onto 180g red vinyl, a picture disc live album (previously unreleased and exclusive to the box), the Playground Love EP also pressed onto 180g red vinyl and two CDs. The CDs consist of the album, along with a couple of studio outtakes, and the aforementioned previously unreleased live album. Fans of nick-knacks will be pleased to hear that this comes with posters and a replica laminate VIP pass. A download card includes all the audio.The original soundtrack will also be available as a single LP on 180-gram vinyl and of course as you might expect, the two-CD deluxe edition will also be widely available separately.

Lakeshore Records has released a soundtrack EP for Shane Black’s The Predator. The EP features three tracks from the film’s original score composed by Henry Jackman (Captain America: The Winter Soldier & Civil War, X-Men: First Class, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, Big Hero 6, Wreck-It-Ralph). The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon. A full soundtrack album featuring Jackman’s music for the movie is set to be released on September 28. The Predator is co-written and directed by Black and stars Boyd Holbrook, Trevante Rhodes, Jacob Tremblay, Keegan-Michael Key, Olivia Munn, Sterling K. Brown, Alfie Allen, Thomas Jane, Augusto Aguilera, Jake Busey and Yvonne Strahovski. The movie is being released nationwide this weekend by 20th Century Fox.

Like the movie which spawned this soundtrack, this isn't all that bad, but neither is it a lost classic. "Catch Us If You Can," a big hit, is the obvious highlight, and the raucous '50s-styled "Having a Wild Weekend" is OK. "Don't Be Taken In," a fine downbeat Beatlesque midtempo tune that is strongly reminiscent of the "No Reply" kind of material on Beatles for Sale, is a genuinely overlooked gem, but it appears on the History compilation. There are a couple of kinda neat surf-drag-spy-movie type instrumentals with dirty sax, and probably no group harmonized with as much exuberance on shabby original material as the Five did on their album filler, but this isn't an essential addition even for DC5 fans. Note how they try to tap into a Walker Brothers vibe on "Don't You Realize."

There’s nothing disastrous about Daniel Pemberton’s fine score. Pemberton’s star has been on the rise for a few years now and it was 2015 that turned out to be his real breakthrough year, with his very impressive (and very different) scores for The Man from UNCLE and Steve Jobs. There’s a bit of the effortless cool of the former heard in Gold but by and large this is another very different affair, a fun action/adventure score that stays refreshingly free of the turgid sounds that tend to dog these things these days.
