Una volta riportata nei documenti, ripetuta abbastanza volte e ampiamente diffusa, non ci vuole molto perché la versione “addomesticata” di una storia diventi un fatto accertato. Ma chi ha inventato per primo queste false notizie e perché sono rapidamente diventate una verità? Cleopatra, Marco Polo, il Capitano Cook, Giovanna d'Arco, ma anche figure popolari come i ninja giapponesi e l'Inquisizione spagnola: tutti noi sapremmo citare almeno una notizia o un luogo comune su questi argomenti. Eppure, se esaminiamo le reali vicende storiche scopriamo che spesso nulla di ciò che diamo per scontato è vero, che le inesattezze e le bugie alterano la rappresentazione di molti dei personaggi e degli eventi cruciali che abbiamo studiato a scuola e che gli interessi personali di chi ha narrato i fatti hanno avuto un enorme impatto su ciò che è stato ricordato e su quello che invece è stato opportunamente tralasciato, e per questo dimenticato..

With the huge success recently of music from films, it's a great time for a compilation to round up the mega-hits that have come from, or been used in, films from the 60s onwards. For the first time on a compilation some of the biggest movie hits are brought together. Opening with the epic Whitney Houston blockbuster from ’The Bodyguard’, the first disc also features ‘(I’ve Had) The Time Of My Life’ from ‘Dirty Dancing’, ‘Happy’ from ‘Despicable Me 2’, and title track smashes from ‘Ghostbusters’, ‘9 to 5’ and ‘Footloose’. We’ve also included ABBA’s original version of ‘Mamma Mia’ and the fabulous ‘Grease Megamix’ which combines three huge tracks from ‘Grease’.

We see patterns of leadership throughout human history. Prehistoric leaders who, just as leaders do today, used power and influence to create co-operation amongst their group, have all played their part in our surviving, thriving and evolving as a species. Of course, leadership is infinitely more complex in the modern world, comprising of global teams, large anonymous networks and communications technology. But have our brains evolved as quickly as our societies?
