Phoenix, Arizona 1955…a twenty-five year old disc jockey and fledgling songwriter, Lee Hazlewood, is trying to break into the music industry. He takes Greyhound bus trips to Los Angeles to pitch songs, only to be rejected each time. Undeterred, Lee starts a record label called Viv Records. Running the label out of his house, Lee finds the artists, writes the songs, produces the sessions, arranges the pressings of the records and handles distribution. Recently discovered tapes in the Viv Records archive yielded an unbelievable find, the earliest known recordings of Hazlewood singing his songs…Lee’s first demo! The mysterious and bountiful tapes featured Lee singing early unheard compositions and a complete first draft of his Trouble Is A Lonesome Town song cycle that would become his first official solo album in 1963.

Live in Birdland! This is a good recording of a great show! (may actually be a complilation of several shows) It's really fun to hear the announcments of the next number that are apparently for radio audience. The sound quality is quite good considering the year (1952-3) and the band really swings during classics like 'Lullaby of Birdland', 'Stella by Starlight' and 'How High the Moon'.

The choir is world famous for its purity of tone and beautiful blend, and under Willcocks' masterly direction it became the exemplar of British choral singing, unmatched by any other ensemble of men and boys.

Bring It On is the debut album by English band Gomez. Gomez entered the recording studios in late 1997 to turn their demos into an album. During this time they also toured the UK with Embrace. The first single, "78 Stone Wobble" was released in March 1998 with the album following a month later. Bring It On was well received on both sides of the Atlantic with Spin calling it a "damn beautiful album" and Allmusic's Greg Prato comparing "78 Stone Wobble" to Nirvana's unplugged version of Meat Puppets' "Plateau". The album experienced a further boost in popularity when it won the 1998 Mercury Music Prize for best album, beating the favourites Massive Attack's Mezzanine and The Verve's Urban Hymns. "Get Myself Arrested" and "Whippin' Piccadilly" were later released as singles. While Gomez toured the US as the support artist for Eagle Eye Cherry, Bring It On is the only Gomez album so far not to make the US charts although the album did make the Australian album charts. "Bring It On" is also the name of a song on Gomez's following album, Liquid Skin.

Here are four tracks from one of the classic sessions of all time when a combination of giants gathered in Rudy Van Gelder's studio for an historic meeting on Christmas Eve afternoon and early dark, 1954. With Thelonious Monk and three-quarters of the Modern Jazz Quartet (Jackson, Heath, and Clarke) as his accomplices, Miles blends sophisticated harmonic knowledge with raw, spontaneous invention to produce extraordinary music. The two takes of "The Man I Love" are quite different within their basic similarity. An added starter in "'Round Midnight" done by the great Davis quintet of 1956–Coltrane, Garland, Chambers, and Philly Joe Jones. (With John Coltrane, Red Garland, Paul Chambers, Philly Joe Jones, Milt Jackson, Thelonious Monk, Percy Heath, Kenny Clarke)
