Elephant Planet

This is the remarkable story of two baby elephants struggling to survive their critical first six months in the oldest desert on earth. The Desert Elephants of Namibia suffered a poaching holocaust in the 1980s. As the most endangered elephant population in the world recovers, every single calf is vital. Himba and Dusty are born in a boom year, but when the short-lived rivers on which they depend disappear underground, their lives depend on the memories, experience and decisions of the females who lead their tiny families.

We are excited to announce that Jasha Klebe and Thomas Farnon have written the score for the eagerly anticipated Our Planet II. The docuseries follows billions of animals across the globe as they make astonishing seasonal migration journeys amid the dangers of climate change. With a busy start to the year writing the music for ITVX’s ‘A Year On Planet Earth’ and BBC’s ‘Fight the Power: How Hip Hop Changed the World’, the two composers have joined forces to produce the spectacular score for the second series of Netflix’s Our Planet. From the Emmy Award-winning team behind Planet Earth and Our Planet, Our Planet II returns June 14. The four-part series is narrated by Sir David Attenborough following the original and is produced by Huw Cordey with executive producers Alastair Fothergill and Keith Scholey for Silverback Films. The show will unravel the “mysteries of how and why animals migrate to reveal some of the most dramatic and compelling stories in the natural world”.

Focuses on life and the environment in both the Arctic and Antarctic.

Sony Music has announced the January 8, 2021 release of A Perfect Planet (soundtrack from the BBC series) with music by composer Ilan Eshkeri (Stardust, The Young Victoria). The album features the music from Eshkeri’s fourth collaboration with Sir David Attenborough, the legendary naturalist who will narrate the BBC series. Ilan Eshkeri says: “Creating the music for A Perfect Planet has been a hugely rewarding experience. The series celebrates the extraordinary world we are a part of as well as showing the delicate balance of the systems that support life, and what we need to do to ensure its future stability. It’s a message that’s very important to me and one that I believe we have a responsibility to engage with – in a way that not only educates but inspires the next generation.»

Filmed in more than 60 locations, the series covers a wide range of animals, including African elephants, polar bears, blacktip sharks, chipmunks, grizzly bears, cheetahs, leatherback turtles, pandas and zebras, among many, many others.
Jasha Klebe comments “On approaching the music for the ITV series, ‘A Year On Planet Earth’ I wanted to create a score that was lyrical, vibrant, and a joyous celebration of the natural world. Using a kaleidoscope of instruments and textures, I crafted soundscapes to be as rich and colorful as the animals and environments they portrayed. Starting with ambient vocal calls, cascading strings, and a jubilant percussive motif – the heartbeat of the series – in the opening suite; to stacked ambient layers of my vocals in Bush Fire; delicate piano and wistful solo cello in Ice Bears; to the sweeping melodic song of Monarch Butterfly; I set out to evoke a wondrous, emotional journey, as we transitioned from each new season over a year on planet earth.”
