The British label Pickwick/Hallmark, is characterized by making re-editions. This time I scored another point by purchasing this double LP’s live by Elton John many, many years ago, with two concerts recorded in the 70s decade (1970 – 1974). I say a success because the records are intact, just like their original versions and the best in a single double album! What more can I ask for?
The Elton John Vinyl Club 2017 collection of reissues wraps up with today’s release of "Sleeping With The Past" (1989) and "Elton John – One Night Only: The Greatest Hits" (2000) on 180gm vinyl.
A movie soundtrack that's about half instrumental, but it's not a tossoff: the vocal tracks are as carefully produced and enjoyable as Elton's "real" albums.
Although he had made a number of re-recordings of popular songs for a budget record label in the late '60s, Empty Sky was the first true solo album Elton John recorded after leaving Bluesology; it also marked the beginning of his long and fruitful collaboration with lyricist Bernie Taupin.
Give it a chance!
Why? Because this is a good US 80's reissue and is remarkable the sound. You can hear the instrument separation, Elton's clear voice (I listen minimal details.) For you understand me, listen "Come Down In Time", "Love Song", "My Father's Gun" as an example.
