My Piano is a warm upright piano sample library for Kontakt designed for cinematic soundtracks, intimate jazz and classical impressionist-like music. There are special and unique controls for different parts of the piano, for the internal resonances, pedal sound and there’s even a knob to put some random noises into the recording. The samples were taken with AudioTechnica AT4060 tube microphones, with NEVE preamps, to ensure the highest quality and warmth. The pedal resonances are handled separately, as well as the overtones and the body resonance of the piano, to allow the user to have a complete control over the piano sound.

Albums are collections of loops built around a particular idea and they usually feature a certain type of instrument.

We wanted to capture that semidarkness mood and the semblance of something flowing in a natural way, from the body of the player to the soul of the listener. On the acoustic side, we were looking for that round pizzicato sound with that peculiar defined fingers’ attack. If you love jazz, you’ll probably know what we mean. These qualities are not easy to be found in the same musician. This is why we asked Nicola Ziliani to work for us.

“Dominus” is the latin word that stands for “Lord”. From the contraction of the female “Domina” comes “Donna”, the modern italian word for “Woman”. The same word is attested in old English Law for noble ladies who held a barony in their own right. On the other hand, “Dominoes” is the popular game, born in China, famous for its numbered tiles. Focusing on the ideas of making something both gamish and funny as well as something that is built on traditional church chants and prayers, we created Dominus Choir.

We’ve sampled a handful of top woodwind players at the Teatro delle Voci in Treviso. This is the fourth volume of our woodwind series, Michele Fattori: Solo Bassoon. Michele Fattori is teacher of Bassoon at the Conservatory of Music “B. Marcello”, in Venice. He performed with many important directors like Sir S. Rattle, D. Barenboim, I. Fisher, P. Boulez, V. Gergiev, D. Harding, Sir C. Davis, B. Haitink, M. Jansons and recorded with famous labels as Deutsche Grammophon, EMI, Harmonia.

Simple like one of grandma’s cakes. Simple Cello blends the same warm, natural ambience together with the engine of Venice Modern Strings. While sampling Simple Cello we strived to achieve the core features that we would like to hear in this instrument: a singing, intuitive, intelligent legato with realistic transitions as well as a lively performed dynamic. We hope you’ll appreciate the minimalist nature of this library.
