McCoy Tyner is in top form in this solo concert recorded at the 1991 Warsaw Jazz Festival, playing with added energy throughout the set. Although he does play two John Coltrane compositions (a runaway "Giant Steps" and lush "Naima") and a pair of Thelonious Monk's songs (a romp through "Rhythm-A-Ning" and a jaunty "Monk's Dream"), plus moving interpretations of two standards ("Beautiful Love" and "Darn That Dream"), the focus is primarily on his own works.

Karol Szymanowski spent his early years in Ukraine (where many affluent Polish families still owned land at the time). An injury to the leg forced young Karol into a life of relative inactivity, and, from age seven on, attendance at school was replaced by rigorous musical studies (first under his father's tutelage, and then, from 1892 on, at Gustav Neuhaus' music school in Elisavetgrad). Although early training focused on the piano, Neuhaus was quick to observe his young student's potential as a composer. While in Elisavetgrad, Szymanowski was introduced to the German classics as well as to Chopin and Scriabin. London Warsaw New York is the second studio album by Polish jazz and pop singer–songwriter Basia, released in the United States on October 23, 1989 by Epic Records. The album's title comes from a line in the song "Copernicus" (included on the album): "Our love will take this globe by storm/If it's London, Warsaw, or New York". Basia performed this song live on Late Night with David Letterman on Thanksgiving night on November 22, 1990.The album earned a platinum certification by the Recording Industry Association of America on August 11, 1992 for sales of over one million copies in the United States.
