A loving tribute to French Song, by one of the greatest voices. With exceptional sensibility and understanding of the French language, the renowned Swedish singer pays a loving homage to French melody and song. Known for her artistic journeys which transcend the borders of musical genre, Anne Sofie von Otter’s collaborations include those with Elvis Costello and Brad Mehldau, with whom she recorded her ‘Love Songs’ album on Naïve.
On 100 X Vive la France there are 100 tracks that perfectly reflect the feeling of 50 years of French music. From veterans such as Charles Trenet, Henri Salvador, Yves Montand and Catherine Sauvage to more recent artists such as In-Grid, Renaud and others. The tracks are arranged chronologically on the CDs and are thus a nice overview of half a century French music.
Excellent addition to any prog rock music collection.
L´extraordinaire tour de France d´Adelard Rousseau is another critically acclaimed album from Malicorne. It's regarded as their best album next to Almanach and with the more extensive use of drums, synths and folksy time signatures; it might be an attractive album for folk prog heads (if there exists such a being).
Juliette Nourredine, known to her fans simply as Juliette, is an acclaimed singer/songwriter from France whose albums regularly chart within the national Top Ten. Born on September 25, 1962, in Paris, France, the chanteuse began her performance career in Toulouse, where as a teenager she performed the songs of Jacques Brel and Edith Piaf on piano. In time she began writing songs of her own and singing. One of her early performances, a theater show from 1986, was released independently on cassette as Juliette (1987).
The Michel Berger and France Gall collaboration ‘Double Jeu’ was released in 1992, shortly before the sudden death of Michel Berger. It is therefore his final appearance on an album. Although she's best-known as the pretty, perky teenager who won the 1965 Eurovision Song Contest with her hit "Poupee de Cire, Poupee de Son," French pop singer France Gall has had a much longer and more varied career than that, having released solid records almost non-stop since the early '60s. Although only a cult figure in most of the rest of the world, Gall is a major star and beloved figure in her native country.
