He’s been hailed “The Voice Of Rock”, and for good reason, as this 7 CD live box set ably testifies. With vocals soaked in blues and soul, Glenn Hughes has played with and fronted many legends of rock, including Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Hughes-Thrall, Trapeze and Black Country Communion.
Best-known for his work with Deep Purple, Glenn Hughes doesn't rest on his laurels on his first solo album in eight years, Resonate. In addition to his tight live band, Hughes is joined by friend and Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith on the opening and closing tracks. Resonate might well be the heaviest of Hughes's solo albums, but as is his trademark, musical diversity shines through, blending the finest elements of hard rock, soul and funk. "It’s heavy in content lyrically and it’s musically heavy, but it’s got a lot of groove … I think it’s quite dramatic … there’s a lot of light and shade. But the emphasis is really heavy grooves and that’s what I write … everybody needs to know that this is absolutely a return to rock music as a solo artist for me…
Ronnie James Dio is one of the most beloved figures in rock history. His gifts, both as a singer and songwriter, are instantly recognizable, whether he was with Rainbow, Black Sabbath, Heaven & Hell, or leading Dio. Sadly, Dio lost his battle with stomach cancer in 2010, but his towering voice and legacy live on. To celebrate Dio's life, an all-star group of his friends and fans recorded 13 of their favorite tracks for a tribute album, entitled "This Is Your Life," to raise funds for the Ronnie James Dio Stand Up and Shout Cancer Fund.
HTP 2 is the second album by the Hughes Turner Project, a collaboration between Glenn Hughes (Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, etc.) and Joe Lynn Turner (Rainbow, Yngwie Malmsteen, etc.); it was released in 2003 on MTM Music and Pony Canyon Records. The second album followed 2002’s HTP and the Live In Tokyo recording. Between the two releases both Hughes and Turner had issued solo albums, Hughes’ Songs In The Key Of Rock and Turner’s JLT. HTP 2 follows similar musical territory to the debut; a retro hard rock sound infused with AOR and some funk, with vocal trade-offs between the two singers.
BLACK COUNTRY COMMUNION, the Anglo-American rock group comprising vocalist/bassist Glenn Hughes (DEEP PURPLE, TRAPEZE), drummer Jason Bonham (LED ZEPPELIN, FOREIGNER), Derek Sherinian (DREAM THEATER, ALICE COOPER, BILLY IDOL) and blues-rock guitarist/vocalist Joe Bonamassa, will release its long-awaited and highly anticipated fourth album, "BCCIV", via Mascot Records on Friday, September 22. This is the band's first studio album since 2013's "Afterglow".
