What happens when ace blues guitar player John Holiday (aka Kid Memphis) from Memphis who played the acting role of Carl Perkins in the 2005 major motion picture “Walk The Line”, collaborates with JD Taylor, a Jackson, Tennessee native who actually played harmonica on gigs with the Rockabilly legend himself? Well, it’s a story to be told and it’s in the songs of HARD BLUE SPACE w/KID MEMPHIS, the latest Little Boys Blue album to be released by the VizzTone label group.

This led to his enrollment at the Geneva Conservatory Of Music, where he studied theory, composition, classical guitar, and singing. Although this classical education gave Jay his skills he was always drawn to blues, rock, jazz, and pop.

Noted for his lithe technique, sweet-toned, blues-inflected sound, and distinctive use of volume pedals, Carlton first came to prominence as a member of crossover jazz and R&B outfit the Crusaders. From there, he developed into an in-demand session player, recording on up to 500 albums a year and appearing on over 100 gold albums. His studio credits from the '70s and early '80s include work with musicians and groups like Steely Dan, Joni Mitchell, Michael Jackson, Sammy Davis, Jr., Herb Alpert, Quincy Jones, Bobby Bland, Dolly Parton, Linda Ronstadt, and literally dozens of others.
