In esso il commento dei grandi temi etici della tradizione, forza d’animo, azione, passione e amore (anche omosessuale), diventa subito occasione per una esplicita e provocatoria denuncia della società del Giappone contemporaneo, contro la cui corruzione Mishima rilancia il proprio modello di cultura, consapevolmente anacronistico, individualista e asociale.
