"Capricorn Princess" is a pretty amazing, and too long overlooked set from Esther Phillips – here final album for Kudu – and a beautiful mix of soaring soul sounds from one the most unique, emotionally inflected and diverse soul vocalists of her era! Esther's in prime Kudu mode here – working with jazzy arrangements by David Matthews and Pee Wee Ellis, adding her unique, grit-inflected soul chanteuse vocals to a smoother mix of instrumention that creates a perfect counterpoint that took her way past her earlier work!

"Let's Stick Together" is a 1976 album by Bryan Ferry. His third solo release, it was his first following the disbanding of Roxy Music earlier in the year. Unlike Ferry’s two previous solo recordings, "Let's Stick Together" was not a dedicated album project, instead being made up of material released as singles, B-sides and an EP. It had a generally favourable critical reception, but only just made the UK Top 20.

"Be Yourself Tonight" is the 4th album by the British pop duo Eurythmics, released in 1985. Largely recorded in Paris, with additional recording in Detroit and Los Angeles, this album saw Eurythmics move away from their previous more experimental, synthesizer-based songs, to a more commercial pop/rock sound. Combining elements of Motown and rock music, the album incorporates a more traditional band line-up/instrumentation. Nonetheless, the recordings still possessed an atmospheric and cutting edge sound, winning David A. Stewart awards for his production work on the album. The release of the album also coincided with a new look for singer Annie Lennox, who ditched the androgynous look of the previous albums and became, in biographer Lucy O'Brien's words, "a bleach-blonde rock 'n' roller." Be Yourself Tonight includes guest appearances by notable artists such as Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, and Elvis Costello.

Happy 70th Birthday, dear Olivia!

"Clearly Love" is an album by Olivia Newton-John, released on 30 September 1975. The album's peak of #12 in the US was also something of a disappointment, considering that Newton-John's previous two albums, "If You Love Me, Let Me Know" and "Have You Never Been Mellow", had both reached #1. Nevertheless, the album did earn a Gold certification, and both of the album's singles were Top 20 country chart hits, with "Something Better to Do" reaching #19 and "Let It Shine" (written by Nashville songwriter Linda Hargrove) reaching #5. In the United Kingdom it was a different story, as neither the album nor its singles charted at all there. The market in which the album was most successful in terms of chart position was the Netherlands, where it went to #1. "Clearly Love" also did well in Japan, reaching #3 on the Oricon Albums Chart, the LP sold 110,450 there.
