All This and World War II is a 1976 musical documentary that juxtaposes Beatles songs, performed by a number of musicians, with World War II newsreel footage and 20th Century Fox films from the 1940s. It lasted two weeks in cinemas and was quickly sent into storage. The original intention of the filmmakers was to use actual Beatles music in the film. The decision to use other artists covering Beatles music was made by the film's producers after they realised additional money could be made through a soundtrack album. The decision was a sound one, as the soundtrack actually generated more revenue than the film. The album reached number 23 on the UK album charts, with a total of seven weeks on the chart.

Heart was pretty much considered washed up when they released Heart in 1985. They learned a few important things while they had taken a short sabbatical – they knew that hooks were important and they knew they could play up their looks for MTV. So, they delivered both with Heart, giving their audience anthemic hooks and tightly corseted bosoms, leading to the most popular album they ever had. This doesn't mean it's the best, since its calculated mainstream bent may disarm some long-term fans, but it is true that they do this better than many of their peers, not just because they have good polished material from professional songwriters but because they can deliver this material professionally themselves. Yes, "These Dreams," "Never," and "What About Love" don't quite fit into the classic Heart mode, but they are good mid-'80s mainstream material, delivered as flawlessly as possible. There's still a lot of filler on this record, but the best moments are among the best mainstream AOR of its era.

Known/Learned is the third album from this thought provoking progressive band from Brisbane, Australia. It s a sprawling 2CD collection of themes and moments, captured between recurring characters. While never explicitly told in the traditional vein of the concept album , the imagery of Known/Learned depicts fragmented moments in the lives of a father and his daughter, their loss, their love, their journey. A bittersweet love song for life.
Arcane blends the technicality of progressive metal with the atmospheric intensity of bands like Tool and Anathema…

Great dance music albums – albums that sound as good on headphones and home speakers as they do on club soundsystems – aren’t easily made. In a form whose primary aims have been to move dancefloors and to move on, full lengths that thrill the head, heart and the feet with equal power are few and far between. We believe Romare has made one.

In 1942 The Musical Times reported a ‘grave loss’ referring to Walter Leigh’s tragically early death, killed in action whilst serving in a tank regiment near Tobruk, just before his thirty-seventh birthday. Though during his lifetime he was more than once compared to Sir Arthur Sullivan, from a contemporary standpoint an equally pertinent analogy could be drawn with a composer from a later generation, Sir Richard Rodney Bennett. Both men approached film music and ‘light music’ with the same seriousness of purpose and invested it with the same impeccable craftsmanship they brought to their concert pieces.

It's almost astonishing that it took until 2012 for Strange Euphoria, the first multi-disc retrospective box set of Heart's five-decade-plus career, to arrive. The set contains three CDs and a live concert DVD entitled "The Second Ending," shot between February and March of 1976 for Washington State's KSWU-TV. Strange Euphoria is nearly everything a retrospective like this should be…

Let's start with "Radar Love", the musical milestone of Golden Earring. Deep Purple fans can look forward to the most famous guitar riff in rock history on "Smoke On The Water". Status Quo spread a good mood with "Rockin' All Over The World" and everyone can jump with Liquido's "Narcotic". Fine "rarities" can also be found among the 100 rock hits, such as "Barracuda" (Heart) or "American Woman" (The Guess Who). Simply the best rock hits of all time - from the Sixties (The Byrds) to Velvet Revolver, Gossip and Pink … And with the last song of the 5 CD box set, the rockers also show their soft side - "Love Hurts" of Nazareth.
