Britain's the Vamps turn toward EDM- and R&B-influenced pop on their third studio album, 2017's Night & Day: Night Edition. A four-member boy band who have been nipping at the heels of One Direction since debuting in 2013, the Vamps make dancey pop. The album follows the group's similarly inclined sophomore effort, 2015's Wake Up. However, where that album found the band playing a guitar- and synth-based new wave style of pop, here they've chosen a more electronic-based sound. There are a few interesting jams on Night & Day: Night Edition, like the '80s-style, Daft Punk-disco meme "Shades On" and the flamenco-tinged "It's a Lie" featuring Tini. We also get festival anthems like "All Night" with Matoma, the clubby-seducer "Hands" featuring Sabrina Carpenter, and the Mumford & Sons folk of "Stay."

The compilers of this five-CD/cassette box set anthology, which contains 104 tracks and runs over six hours, have taken an inclusive, open-ended approach to both their selections and their sequencing. Unconventionally, the album is organized not chronologically, but thematically, in eight categories – "Steeped in the Blues," Straight out of Church," "Let's Have a Party," "Swinging the Songbook," "After Hours: Slow-Dancing and Torching the Songbook," "Jazz Compositions," and "Novelties and Take-Offs" (in other words, blues, gospel, dance, standards, slow standards, scatting and vocalese, and other). Annotator Robert G. O'Meally is quick to acknowledge that the categories are slippery, however, and to invite the listener to re-arrange the sequencing as he sees fit, a suggestion some may not appreciate.

Although conventional wisdom states that David Bowies strongest album is 1972s Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars, I humbly disagree. I think Ziggys a good record, but quite a few others include better material. Predecessor The Man Who Sold the World from 1970 seems superior, as do many later efforts like 1974s Diamond Dogs, 1976s Station to Station, and 1980s Scary Monsters (and Super Creeps).

Unplugged 1994 Previously Unreleased Second Night Following years of public speculation, the Eagles formally reunited in 1994, 14 years after splitting up in 1980. The line-up comprised the five Long Run-era members - Glen Frey, Don Henley, Joe Walsh, Don Felder, and Timothy B. Schmit - supplemented by Scott Crago (drums), John Corey (keyboards, guitar, backing vocals), Timothy Drury (keyboards, guitar, backing vocals), and Al Garth (sax, violin) on stage. For the record, we never broke up, we just took a 14-year vacation , announced Frey at their first live performance in April 94. The ensuing tour spawned the live album, Hell Freezes Over (named for Henley's recurring statement that the group would get back together when hell freezes over ), which debuted at number one on the Billboard album chart.
